OUR SALVATION
Every man and every woman wants to be whole or
healthy. That is the secular way of saying that every
man and every woman wants Salvation. Salvation, as an
English word, is derived from a Latin root that means
"health" or "wholeness," and this desire to be all of
oneself in the fullest and richest possible sense, is native
to man. Frequently, words change their significance as
the years go by. Often they become tarnished; very
frequently they are misunderstood -- and then they act
as barriers to meaning rather than conveyors of
meaning. This has happened with the word Salvation.
Sometimes people think that Salvation is a sort of fire-
insurance policy which guarantees that we shall not
have a rather warm future beyond death. "What must I
do to be saved?" means, "What must I do to be whole,
to be healthy in my total personality, to be a whole man
as God intended us to be, even the assurance of
everlasting life after we die?”
When we put it in this way, we see its vital
significance. Salvation caters our whole human being,
and that pertains to our body, soul and spirit being
secured. Generally, salvation is the preservation of our
life from the damnation as part of God’s curse to sin
which is the eternal death on the lake of fire. That could
only happen when we surrender this life to its creator
who is also the savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He said,
“Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and
 whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.”
Luke 17:23. The Apostle Paul said it this way,
“And the very God of peace sanctify you
wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and
soul and body be preserved blameless unto the
coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

A. Making Sure that You’re a Christian
Salvation consists of deliverance from all sins and
unrighteousness through the blood of Jesus Christ. The New
Testament experience of salvation consists of repentance from
sin, water baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost, after which
the Christian is to live a godly life (Acts 2:36-41).
Water Baptism
Water baptism is an essential part of New Testament salvation
and not merely a symbolic ritual. It is part of entering into the
kingdom of God and therefore, it is not merely a part of local
church membership. (See John 3:5; Galatians 3:27).
Mode of Baptism
Water baptism is to be administered only by immersion. Paul
said, "We are buried with him [Jesus Christ] by baptism (Romans
6:4; see Colossians 2:12), Jesus came up "out of the water" (Mark
1:10), and Philip and the eunuch went down "into the water" and
came up "out of the water" (Acts 8:38-39). Jesus' death, burial, and
resurrection are applied to our lives when we experience New
Testament salvation: "Repent [death to sin], and be baptized
[burial] every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
[resurrection]." (See Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-7; 8:2). Sprinkling,
pouring, or infant baptism of any kind cannot be substantiated by the Word of
God, but are only human traditions.
Formula for Baptism
The name in which baptism is administered is vitally important, and this
name is Jesus. Jesus' last command to His disciples was, "Go ye therefore,
and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 28:19). We should notice that He said
name (singular) not names. As previously explained, Father, Son, and Holy
Ghost are not names of separate persons, but titles of positions held by God.
An angelic announcement revealed God's saving name in the
New Testament: "She shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call
his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins"
(Matthew 1:21).
The apostles understood that Jesus was the name to use at
baptism, and from the day that the church of God was
established (the Day of Pentecost) until the end of their ministry,
they baptized all nations (Jews--Acts 8:16; Gentiles--Acts 19:5)
in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In fact, Jesus is the only name given for our salvation. "Neither
is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name
under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved"
(Acts 4:12).
Baptism in Christ is ‘putting on Christ.’ Galatians 3:27 says;
“For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ, have put
on Christ.” KJV
Baptism of the Holy Ghost
The baptism of the Holy Ghost is the birth of the Spirit (John
3:5). This spiritual baptism is necessary to put someone into the
 kingdom of God and is evidenced by speaking in other
tongues (other languages) as the Spirit of God give
utterance.
It was prophesied by Joel (Joel 2:28-29) and Isaiah
(Isaiah 28:11), foretold by John the Baptist (Matthew
3:11), purchased by the blood of Jesus, and promised
by Him to His disciples (John 14:26; 15:16). The Holy
Ghost was first poured out on the Day of Pentecost
upon the Jews (Acts 2:1-4), then upon the Samaritans
(Acts 8:17), and later upon the Gentiles (Acts 10:44-
46; 19:6). "The promise is unto you, and to your
children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as
the Lord our God shall call" (Acts 2:39).

Tongues
1. Speaking in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives
utterance is the manifestation God has given as the definite,
indisputable, supernatural witness or sign of the baptism of the
Holy Ghost (Acts 2:4; 10:46; 19:6).
2. It was prophesied by the prophet Isaiah as the rest and the
refreshing (Isaiah 28:11-12), foretold by Jesus as a sign that
would follow believers of the gospel (Mark 16:17), and
experienced by Jews and Gentiles alike.
3. The gift of "divers kinds of tongues," mentioned by Paul in
I Corinthians 12:1-12 and concerning which he gave
regulations in I Corinthians 14:1-40, is given by both for self-
edification (I Corinthians 14:4) and for the edification of the
church (I Corinthians 14:27-28).
4. In church meetings the gift of tongues is used to give a
public message, and it is to be interpreted. Since this gift can
be misused in public, it needs proper regulation (I Corinthians
14:23-28). Not all believers exercise the gift of tongues, which
is different in function from tongues given by God as the initial
witness of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
Paul said, "Forbid not to speak with tongues" (I Corinthians 14:39) and
"I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all" (I Corinthians
14:8). Who dares to teach or preach to the contrary?
Speaking in tongues means speaking miraculously in a language
unknown to the speaker, as the Spirit gives utterance. Tongues can be
classified in two ways, according to function: (1)speaking in other
tongues as the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost and
(2)the gift of tongues as mentioned in I Corinthians.

B. The Church of Jesus Christ
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this
rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail
against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of
heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound
in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be
loosed in heaven.” -Matt 16:18-19 KJV
FOUR TYPES OF CHURCHES
1. THE CHURCH AT PENTECOST– Christ is the head
(Acts 2:1-4 / Col.1:18)
This is the Future Church that Christ speaks about when he
spoke to Peter in Matt.16:18-19. It was founded at Pentecost of
which Christ referred to when He said, “I will build my church”.
This was constituted through the apostle Peter, the Apostle to
the Jews, and had Israel for its center. Thus, both Jews and
Gentiles are united to Christ in a living oneness by the Holy Spirit
(1Cor.12:13). Jesus Christ is the head of this Church (Col.1:18 /
Eph.5:23) and this church is His;
 a. Body
“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in
particular.” -1 Cor 12:27 KJV
“And he is the head of the body, the church: who is
the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all
things he might have the preeminence… Who now
rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is
behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his
body's sake, which is the church” -Col 1:18/ 24 KJV
b. Temple- Temple and Habitation of the Spirit
“In whom all the building fitly framed together
groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom
ye also are builded together for an habitation of God
through the Spirit.” - Eph 2:21-22 KJV

2. CHURCH IN THE WILDERNESS – Christ is the
Spiritual Rock (Israel from Egypt to Canaan) -Acts 7:38
“And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual
Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.” -1 Cor 10:4 KJV

3. CHURCH: ASSEMBLY / COUNCIL - Christ, the
Rejected Savior- Isa.53:3 / John 1:11
“And when they had brought them, they set them before
the council: and the high priest asked them” -Acts 5:27 KJV
“But if ye inquire any thing concerning other matters, it
shall be determined in a lawful assembly. 40 For we are in
danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there
being no cause whereby we may give an account of this
 concourse. 41 And when he had thus spoken, he
dismissed the assembly.” -Acts 19:39-41 KJV
The Lawful assembly is a place in which the
safety of the state or National worship is
concerned. Know that such a matter is not the
business of the mob. It must be heard and
determined in a lawful assembly. One legally
constituted and properly authorized to hear and
determine judgment on the subject. The Town
clerk dismissed the assembly, another proof that
the word ‘ecclesia’, w/c is generally translated
\church’ signifies an assembly of any kind.
“Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in
the scriptures, The stone which the builders
rejected, the same is become the head of the
corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous
in our eyes? 43 Therefore say I unto you, The
kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given
to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.” -Matt
21:42-43 KJV

4. CHURCH CHRISTENDOM- Christ, the Lamb (The
Household of Professing believers)–Matt.7:21-23 / Rev.1:11
Church Christendom represents all types of believers of God
in all ages and the dealings of the individual members in the local
churches. The seven churches in the book of Revelations are
addressed as the Seven churches in Asia, which is now a part of
Western Turkey.
Each particular church was comprised of various congregations. These
churches were selected to represent the totality of the churches today, for
the number ‘seven’ stands for completion. What was said to them is also
meant for the churches of all ages with all commendations as well as their
failures and sins.
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy
name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I
never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore
whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him
unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock”. -Matt 7:21-24 KJV

THE CHURCH

“From him the whole body, joined and held together
by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up
in love, as each part does its work.”
Introduction:
The word ‘church’ comes from the Greek ‘ecclesia’ which
means, ‘called out’. It is the Mystical body of Christ, in which
He is the Head
 “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave
him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that
filleth all in all.” -Eph 1:22-23 KJV
God has called us out of this present world of
darkness into a glorious relationship with Him and
with other believers who have become our brother
and sisters in the Lord. The true church of Jesus
Christ is a spiritual building made up of believers
whose bodies have become the holy habitation of
God
“In whom all the building fitly framed together

habitation of God through the Spirit.” -Eph

THE CHURCH BODY

3. 1 Corinthians 12: 12-14 tells us that the body is made up of
many members. And God has placed us in the body as it had
please Him.
4. “So we, being many, are the body of Christ and everyone
members one of another” -Rom.12:5 KJV.
It is important to be involved in Church activities. We should gather in the
sanctuary for corporate worship, to hear the Word of God preached by the
Pastor and to be strengthened by prayers. This will help equip us for our
service to the Lord during the week.
It is also vital that we get together in small intimate groups where we can
minister to and encourage one another. Then we can work together to
reach out to those who have not yet made a decision to make Jesus the
Lord of their lives.
C. Discovering the Value of Membership
The procedures of membership outlined are designed solely for the
purpose of maintaining scriptural and accountable local church government
(Hebrews 13:17), such that our affairs are conducted in decency and order.
(1 Corinthians 14:40) In no way is our understanding and practice of
membership to be construed in such a way as to disrupt our Christian unity
and fellowship with true saints who attend church elsewhere. (Galatians
3:28; 1 Corinthians 3:1-4)
There is a difference between being a regular attendee, a fellowship
member of United Pentecostal Church and being a church member of
United Pentecostal Church (Please refer to Section 2: Church
Membership: Classifications). While all are invited to attend, members
make a formal commitment to the church. (Part of Membership
Manual Section 1)

Becoming a Member
Once you become a member of Christ's Church, we will
encourage you to do the following:
 Attend weekly Worship services, Departmental
Fellowships, prayer meetings, overnight prayers and other Church
activities.
 Commit to a Home Care Group, Departmental
groupings or Cell Groups where you can build personal relationships.
 Participate in a Better Life Development Class.
 Serve as a volunteer at PEC Church in an area
that interests you.
 Be Faithful to the Lord and live a God
pleasing life.

We want to help people grow in their devotion to God and in their
understanding of his purpose for their lives. Each person should have the
opportunity to develop spiritual maturity, have an increasing understanding
of God’s presence in their life and growing knowledge of God’s Word.

teach and admonish one another in all wisdom…“ Colossians 3:16 “…

 Reach – Reach People and Help People Come to Christ
We want to reach out to people and introduce them to the good news
of God's grace. Everyone should know that God loves and wants them.
The world and, in particular for us, our community must be shown that
Christ is relevant to their lives. Only in Christ can people find true joy, hope
and meaning. (Mission; Reaching; Evangelizing) – “Go and make
disciples…” Matthew 28:19
 Acknowledge – Acknowledge God and Show God Our Love
We want a depth of spiritual experience and worship and to help people
acknowledge and worship God as the Savior and Lord of their lives. God
should be worshipped in a heartfelt and genuine way and people need to
have a deepening experience of God's Spirit and a growing relationship
with God. (Magnify; Rejoicing; Exalting) – “Love the Lord your God with all
your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…” Matthew 22:37
 Connect – Connect Together in Unity, Hospitality and
Acceptance

We want to help people discover the importance of
connecting in meaningful relationships with other members
of God's family. People need community. They need to feel
loved, accepted and part of something meaningful.

 Equip – Be Equipped for Meaningful Ministry
& Community focus
 We want to help people discover their God-given
gifts and use these gifts in service to others.
People have value and life has value. Those in
need must be cared for. It is the mission of the
entire Christian community to do this. (Ministry;
Restoring; Equipping) – “…love your neighbor as
yourself.” Matthew 22:37

1. ONE BODY- The CHURCH. This is the
Church of the Lord Jesus Christ built
(Matt.16:18-19) upon the foundation of the
apostles and the prophets, with Jesus Christ
being the chief cornerstone (Eph 2:19-20).
This is the mystical Body of which the Lord
Jesus Christ is the Head (Eph.1:22-23). . God’s family, Jesus emphasized that we must be Born of water and of

which we have received. “For by one Spirit
are we all baptized into one body, whether we
be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or
free; and have been all made to drink into one
Spirit.” 1 Cor 12:13

Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit
of Christ, he is none of his.” Rom 8:9
3. ONE LORD
Lord- one having power and authority over others: a ruler by hereditary
right or preeminence to whom service and obedience are due (Meriiam
Webster Unabridged Dictionary).
Statement of truth: “There is only One Lord and that is not you!” That is
the Lord Jesus Christ. Phil 2:10-11
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven,
and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue
should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
4. ONE FAITH - It is the substance of things hoped for and the
evidence of things not seen. Without it, it is impossible to please God!
Hebrews 1:1-3, 6.
* Faith is the act or state of wholeheartedly and steadfastly believing in
the existence, power, and benevolence of a supreme being, of having
confidence in his providential care, and of being loyal to his will as
revealed or believed in : belief and trust in and loyalty to God. (Meriiam
Webster Unabridged Dictionary).
The just shall live by Faith (Rom.1:17), is justified by Faith (Rom.3:28)
and must walk by Faith and not by sight (2 Cor.5:7)
“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Gal 6:10.
5. ONE BAPTISM- The Word of God clearly states that to be baptize is
to be born. As in the physical aspect, there is only one way to be
included into a family… “We must be Born into it!” To be included into
Spirit (John 3:3-5) thus revealing that Baptism has two parts, a baptism
in water and in the Spirit. The Apostle Peter preached it on the Birth of
the Church on the Day of Pentecost

* Water Baptism- is by the immersion of an individual in
water in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. It
came from the Greek word ‘baptizo’ w/c means to ‘dip, to
plunge or to immerse’ in the name of Jesus Christ (Gal
3:27). Thereby placing us into the mystical body of Christ
 and the physical body of Christ in the world today,
the Local church!
This is an act, experience, or ordeal by which
one is purified, sanctified, initiated, or named
(Meriiam Webster Unabridged Dictionary).
* Baptism of the Holy Ghost- is the ‘infilling’ of a
part of God’s Spirit as He promised everyone to
receive it in the last days (Joel 2:28-29). This is
that which places us into one body, (I
Cor.12:13) and without it, we are not His!
“In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus
stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him
come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on
me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall
flow rivers of living water.” 39(But this spake he of
the Spirit, which they that believe on him should
receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given;
because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) John
7:37-39
5. ONE GOD - believing in only One God is the
First and the great commandment. In doing this,
we are doing well!
“…Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And
Jesus answered him, The first of all the
commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our
God is one Lord:30 And thou shalt love the Lord
thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,
and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this
is the first commandment.” Mark 12:28-30

6. ONE FATHER-
“Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?“ Mal 2:10
The Lord God is ourl Father. As a part of a Local Church, we also have a
Spiritual father, our Pastor. God’s undersheperd of His flocks! The
‘mouthpiece’ He uses for man’s salvation. (See Romans 10:13-17)

OUR VALUES (What we practice)
1. The Bible is our Standard:
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired, infallible, and able to
transform the lives of those who hear, read, meditate, and practically apply it.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of
God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy
3:16-17 KJV)
2. Prayer is our avenue to living in a vital relationship with God:
We believe that prayer is invaluable in the Christian life. Through prayer we
not only receive answers from our Heavenly Father, but experience His
power as well.
“Quench not the Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 5:19. KJV
3. The Empowerment of the Holy Ghost must be present in all that we
do:
We believe in the importance of every believer being led by, and totally
dependent upon, the supernatural empowering of the Holy Spirit of God. This
will lead to meaningful communion with Christ, and help Him accomplish His
great commission. (Acts 1:8 KJV)
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:
and ye shall be witnesses unto me…”

4. An Authentic relationship with God is the top priority:
We believe that the most important thing Christians can do is
to develop a daily, authentic relationship with God, in which
they experience the love of God. This will be reflected in
their communion with Him and the character of
their lives.
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard
them reasoning together, and perceiving that he
had answered them well, asked him, Which is the
first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered

5. Spirit-led and Spirit-filled worship is
essential to experiencing God:
We believe that our worship to God must be
motivated and inspired by the Holy Spirit in order
to glorify God. In doing so, God promises to
inhabit the praise and worship of His people.
6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us
kneel before the LORD our maker.7 For he is our
God; and we are the people of his pasture, and
the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his
voice, (Psalm 95:6-7 KJV)
6. Loving Relationship should permeate every
area of church life:
We believe in the importance of unconditional love
as demonstrated first to us by Christ. Therefore,
we desire to foster an atmosphere of genuine love,
acceptance, and forgiveness toward every person.
This loving relationship is best nurtured through
the Cell structure.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be
prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be
tongues, they shall cease; whether there be
knowledge, it shall vanish away. (1 Corinthians
13:8 KJV)

7. Spiritual gifts determine where and how a believer serves:
We believe in the importance of identifying and helping Christians develop
the spiritual gifts they received from God, in order that they may be mobilized
into meaningful service in the Body of Christ. This will result in being fruitful
and fulfilled in ministry. (1 Corinthians 12:7,11,18 KJV)
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 11
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man
severally as he will. 18 But now hath God set the
members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
8. Empowering members for ministry as well as life is a priority in
church life:
We believe the local church should be an equipping center for every believer
that will influence all spheres of his or her life. Through empowering the
believers we will maximize our impact in the world we live in.
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some,
evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;12 For the perfecting of the
saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.13
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of
God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of
Christ:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and
carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning
craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Eph. 4:11-14 KJV
9. Lost souls matter to God; Therefore, they matter to Us:
We believe in the importance of reaching as many unchurched people as
possible, utilizing every possible means, so that the maximum number of
people in our generation might enjoy the abundant life of Christ. For the Son
of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10. KJV)

10. The Gospel message is relevant to every facet of life:
We believe the Gospel message doesn't end with
a changed life, but that its rippling effect results in
a changed world. From individuals, to families, to
communities, to societies, and to nations, the
Gospel has the power to transform. (Matthew
28:19-20; Acts 2:38-41 KJV)
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them
to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway,
even unto the end of the world. Amen.
38 “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the
promise is unto you, and to your children, and to
all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our
God shall call. 40 And with many other words did
he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves

VI. OUR STRATEGY
a. The Philippine Evangelism Center (A Brief History)
In 1970, Rev. Carl Adams rented an old restaurant bar at
5008 P. Burgos Street in Makati in which he transferred the Bible
School from Balibago, Pampanga. And at the same time, turned it
into a church. There were 39 students then. Later, they moved to
Guadalupe, and the church was called Philippine Evangelistic
Center. But not too long, it was changed to Philippine Evangelism
Center—the name we have until now.
In 1972, the construction began for our national
headquarters and church in Guadalupe, Makati that was called
Philippine Evangelistic Center. This property was the answer for 3
days of prayer and fasting as requested by Rev. Carl Adams to the
whole fellowship. 1973 was the high gear for the construction of
both the church (PEC) and the four-storey headquarters offices of
the UPC Philippines. The church building was temporarily used as
the Bible School, while the headquarters became the dorm for the
students. Many of the students helped in the construction of the
church building for minimal wages.
An elderly widow, Cleotilde Abiera in the 70’s, previously
owned the property. It was a perfect location; being accessible
from every point in Metro Manila. When the missionary told her
their desire for church building, she shed tears, nodded her head
and responded. She recalled the last words of her dying husband
who was a Baptist Christian, “Give priority to whosoever would use
our property for the work of God.”

She was so happy, even though the mayor of
Makati, Nemesio Yabut was about to pay the current
price of PhP 250 per square meter, she d. The P.E.C. Strategy
gave it to the UPC with a special discount of
not only PhP 180 per square meter. She 24
was also willing to accept whatever amount
as down payment with the rest on an
installment basis. She took the documents
from the mayor and gave it to the UPC.

Rev. Carl Adams then made a loan from

the headquarters in Hazelwood. The loan
was granted at a total of about one million
pesos the building was finished.

Rev. Adams supervised the construction

of the whole building together with the
foreman who supervised the workers. Rev.
Adams was the general supervisor, the
builder and the financer of the whole
project. So in 1973, the headquarters and
church was transferred to where we are
now at 1678 Escuela St., Guadalupe Nuevo,
Makati City under the care of Rev.
Celedonio Ompad. There was not a single
church member in Manila at the start of the
church. The first group of people in the
service was the missionaries. Bro. And Sis.
Nepstad and their house helpers, and the
ministers in training the first invited church
visitors were Bro. Marcial, a garbage
collector from Mandaluyong, and Sis. Teresa
Josol and one named Titay. Both of them
were laundry women living in the squatters’
area in Makati. These are the first converts
of PEC but since the Lord truly blesses His
work and His people, now, the PEC Church
is considered as the mother church here in
Luzon. The Headquarters Church of the
United Pentecostal Church here in the
Philippines.
