The crimp press is equipped with all required safety devices. However no system can be completely
protect against abuse. All modifications and expansions that are not carried out in the factory of the
manufacturer, or any other measures that have not been authorized in writing, will lead to the loss of
any and all warranty and liability rights.
This crimp press has been built according to the latest state of technology and is operationally safe and
comply with the basic safety requests according to CE-guideline.
The press is suitable for manufacturing of crimp connections.
Any other use is considered inappropriate.
The consequences of inappropriate uses are:
Dangers of bodily harm or death,
Dangers for the machine,
Dangers for other material properties
The machine may only be operated by specially trained personnel, which readed the operating instructios and are able to work according them.
All persons who are charged with the operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of the crimping
press, must have read and understood the operation instructions, especially this chapter on "Safety."
The responsibilities for the operation of the machine must be clearly established and observed.
944-3-0103-EN
You are in danger of the most severe injuries if you remove or make ineffective the
safety installations!
After disassembly of safety installations for reasons of necessary preparation, repair
or maintenance jobs, they must be reassembled correctly and immediately after
conclusion of the jobs!
In case of preparation, repair or maintenance jobs, always pull the main electricity
connection!
Access to the main electrical connection of the machine must always be kept free!

Introduction
These operation instructions are for the crimping press with stripping device STRIPMATIC 944.
They are valid for machines of the series
944 - starting with the serial number 944 020
The manufacturer may not be held responsible for damages due to the failure to comply with the
operation instructions. We must reserve the right to technical modifications because of quality improvement or the expansion of application, or for manufacturing reasons. In these cases, Hanke
Crimp-Technik is under no obligation to make complementary deliveries.
We are convinced that there will be no operation difficulties if these operation instructions are carefully observed.
However, if there should still be questions or technical problems, our customer service will always
be at your disposition.

Electrical connection
All work in the electrical installation, such as the power connection, maintenance, and repairs,
may only be performed by qualified personnel.
Even with the main switch off, some parts of the machine may be under tension.
Connection must be made by means of the enclosed supply cable. It must be observed that the operating voltage matches the voltage of the network. For special voltages a transformer is part of the delivery.
4.3
Pneumatic connection
The crimppress has to be supplied with compressed air. The air connection device can be found on
the right side of the press. The air pressure must be between 6 and 8 bar.
4.4
Protection devices
The machine may be used only with the delivered protection devices!
Never reach with your hands in the area of danger!
When working with the stripping device make sure that the protection devices for the
stripping unit are installed.

Pneumatic connection
For crimp quick-change tools with pneumatic feed (for instance GLOBAL-STAR), a connection for
compressed air already exists in the crimping press. This compressed air connection is located on
the inner left side wall at the level of the press head. In order to supply the crimp quick-change tool
with compressed air, simply plug the coupling piece in the coupling entry. To remove the coupling
plug, push the coupling release upwards.

The clamps for the wire can be set in height by the adjustment ledge (Figure 3 - 2). This is necessary to ensure for different wire sizes that the wire is always positioned in the middle of the stripping
knives. The bigger the wire is, the deeper the clamp has to be set.
To change the height proceed as follows:
1. Loose countersunk screw (Figure 4 - 1).
2. Put wire which has to be used between the clamps and push clamps together with hand.
3. Align both clamps, that the wire is positioned centered to the stripping blades.
4. Tighten countersunk screw.

In case you detect during your monthly checkup that the press head has too much play, you
must adjust the play in the following manner:
1. Switch off the press!
2. Remove the protection sheets.
3. Remove the three Allen screws of the right-hand guide strip (Figure 7). Adjust play by using a
gauge metal strip (thickness 0,02 mm). Insert at four sides a strip of the metal gauge about
15 mm deep.
4. Adjust the play by means of a feeler gage band (thickness 0.02 mm). Introduce a strip of the
feeler gage band on all four surfaces to a depth of approx. 15 mm between the press head
and the guide.
5. Press the guide parallel against the press head.
6. Tighten all three Allen screws firmly.
7. Remove the feeler gage band.
8. Control the play and adjust again, if necessary.
9. Install the protection sheets again.

Adjustment of clamps
Figure 10
The shorter the distance between the applicator punches and the clamps is, the easier is the handling.
Therefore the clamps are adjustable. To adjust the clamps, perform the following steps.
1. Loosen both countersunk screws (Figure 10-3 and 10-4).
2. Move upper (Figure 10-2) and lower clamp (Figure 10-1) together. Make sure that the upper
clamp is positioned parallel to the lower clamp.
3. Adjust clamps as close as possible to the applicator punches.
4. Tighten countersunk screws.

Precision adjustment
Figure 11
Some presses are equipped with a precision adjustment. This permits the adjustment of the
crimping height in the range of 0.1 mm in increments of 1/100.
The precision adjustment of the crimping height can be adjusted in the following manner:
1. Switch off the press and disconnect the power plug.
2. Open the protection cover.
3. Bring the press head down by means of jogging mode or turning the handwheel1.
4. Adjust the crimping height.
5. Close the protection cover.
