Blogging Checklist for A2 - 2016

Your login details will be provided by your teacher. If you forget your
login you can also get the details from Rebecca in room 315.
You MUST remember to log out of the blog after youve finished as
each class has a different password.
Important:
To get an A grade your blog must contain around 60 quality blogs, which must
include all of the following:

What is the function of a music video? Add in an analysis of a music video that you consider to be
the best example of the music video form, clearly explaining why you feel it's a great example.

A summary of the main points of Andrew Goodwin's theory (Dancing in the Distraction Factory),
including clips from examples of videos that follow his main ideas.

Carol Vernallis research: find examples from music videos of slow motion, jump cuts, obvious
edits and multiple use of close-ups. Think carefully about how to present this.

A short summary demonstrating what you understand about Laura Mulveys theory on
representation. Explain with reference to clips from music videos that illustrate her ideas.

Complete the individual YouGov Profiler activity researching typical target audiences for music
videos.

A review of your favourite previous student video. Include a link to it and some screen shots of
elements that you particularly liked. See Hall of Fame.

Post an account of the costume, prop and setting activity completed in class.

Production of music video

How your blog will be marked:


Your blog is worth 20% of your coursework and so it's really worth putting in lots of effort with it. Below is an outline of the mark scheme that your
teachers will use when they mark your work. For an A grade, you must show excellence in the following areas:

research into similar

products and a potential target audience;


organisation of actors , locations , costumes and props
work on shotlists , layouts, drafting , scripting or storyboarding ;
time management
level of care in presentation of the research and planning
skill in the use of digital technology and ICT in the presentation of the blog

Suggestions for other blogging activities:


Behind the scenes videos / director's commentary of the filming/editing process;
Piece to camera where you discuss what happened in that day's lesson and what you are going to do next;
Review of a music video that you saw at the weekend;
Your own market research into what kinds of people watch music videos and why;
Photos of inspirational locations that you encounter on your journey to college or when you are out and about;
Photos of clothes that you see when you are out shopping that would suit your artist(s) brand image;
Photo of a digipak you see when you are next in a music store (they do still exist), and state what you particularly like about it and any ideas
you could borrow for your ancillary work;
Have a look at the handout on ICT and blogging for ideas for making your blog look good.
