Do you want to learn Norwegian?

You can start learning Norwegian today! We've compiled a list of resources that will help you on your way.
Attaining cultural knowledge about a new country usually requires getting to know some of the local lingo. Many
Norwegians are proud of their language, and in fact, there isnt just one Norwegian comes in two forms; Bokml
and Nynorsk, and in addition there are a total of six recognized minority languages in Norway North Sami, Lule
Sami, South Sami, Kven, Romani and Romanes. However, this should not put you off learning Norwegian, knowing
Bokml will get you very far indeed, as it is recognized by the majority of people.
Naturally, the best way of learning a new language is to submerge yourself in it completely, meaning spending time in
Norway, but there are many ways to learn Norwegian on the sly, part-time and online. Here are a list of resources to
get you started, good luck lykke til!

For beginners: basic English Norwegian tutorial for pronunciation and useful sentences:

For beginners: English Norwegian online course prepared by Norwegian University of Science and
Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, including a downloadable PDF-book: http://www.ntnu.edu/now

For beginners and everybody else: A site called Sons of Norways online series on Norwegian language and

For beginners and intermediate learners: Migranorsk is a self-study platform with exercises for several

For intermediate learners: an all-Norwegian site with questions and grammar exercises can be found here:

For intermediate learners: www.lang-8.com is a good platform to practice written Norwegian. Have your
entries corrected by native speakers, and correct entries in your native language in return!

For advanced learners: Download Norwegian podkasts and radio-shows on your smartphone; NRK (the
Norwegian Broadcasting Cooperation) has a good collection that can be viewed here:
