PSYCHOSEXUAL STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT


GENITALS STAGE (from puberty onwards)
- This stage characterized by the maturation of reproductive system, production of sex
hormones and reactivation of genital zone as an area of sensual pleasure.
- This stage is the longest of Freuds psychosexual stages, lasting until old age.
- In the beginning, child seeks associations with members of his own sex just as in
latency period.
- As this period progresses, homosexual tendencies are supplanted by heterosexual
ones.
- Toward the later part of this phase, the child makes contact and forms relationships
with members of the opposite sex.
- In this time, superego undergoes further development and becomes more flexible.
- In this phase, the child realizes that some rules are less vital than others.

H: At the age of 11.

M: Mostly girls
H: Both

M: None
H: There are few

: It should be done inside the bonds of love and marriage
: It is a gift from God, for procreation of child.

M: Yes, always
H: Sometimes I disobey their rules depending on the situation.

ANALYSIS:
From M and Hs answers it can be seen that at the age of 11 and 13 when they
have their first menstruation (menarche) are the average age a typical girl have
their menstrual period. As for association with homosexual and heterosexual, M
is more associated with members of her own sex unlike H who is making contact
and forms relationship with the members of the opposite sex. Both M and H have
a good opinions and definitions about sex. They describe sex as a serious activity
that should be done inside of bonds of love and marriage, it also labeled as Gods
gift to procreate man. This shows their upright adolescent maturity and morality
in life. On way M and H obey their parents rules, M adopts rules in the most
literal sense just like in latency period compare to Heaven whose behavior is in
the genital period that she accepts rules or norms and make exceptions to others.
As seen through preceding questions M and H are beginning to develop in many
of expected ways an adolescent should have develop at the genital stage. There
are dealing with the issues of sexuality, intimacy and morality in the domain of
psychosexual development.
