VALLEY SOCIAL CLUB

SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
FOR 2016
FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE CLUB
Hello club members. Well the summer has drawn to a close. I cant believe
how hot it was. I like to be outside but I think I spent less time by my pool
than normal because of the heat. Despite the weather we still seemed to have
a little fun. We got to go to Wadsworth State Park for our annual trip. It rained
all day but it was nice to see the falls and we had a good cookout. We still have
our trip to the Big E coming up so hopefully the weather will be nice and we
can have a good day.

Julianne M

FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE CLUB

Labor days here ! Can you believe it folks! 2016 breezed right on by, it will be sad to
see this summer go. Its been great so far ! Our summer trip was great and everyone
had a good time and the falls were beautiful despite the rain. Thanks to the
crocheters for the ice cream special. September brings another special bingo (day Tues
after Labor Day). The Big E is later this month. That Monday will be the fashion show
and that week the pumpkin festival and the Harvest Festival. Also the current projects
we did will be celebrated at Amerantes restaurant on the 14th. So exciting to see the
Valley Social Club so busy. Come on in and sign up. Check out your calendars and get involved. Every day a is special day here at the club.
Sylvia H

FROM THE SECRETARY OF THE CLUB

I have to say that summer went by way to fast. Luckily we had lots of things to
do at the club to get out of the heat. The painting group is doing really well and
we have lots of compliments on our work. Thanks Jacques for giving us the
opportunity. We also went to Jones tree farm to pick blueberries and we went
to Wadsworth State Park for our summer trip. The park and its falls are
beautiful. Every one enjoyed themselves a lot. We have lots of warm memories
to keep us warm during the winter months. Paula B.

TIS THE SEASON FOR ELECTIONS

Just in case you haven't had enough national politics, the club is
having its elections for executive officials. President, Vice President
and Secretary are open for election. Right now our current officials
are planning to run for re-election. If youre interested in becoming
the clubs Hilary or Donald please see Phyllis right away to
hear about all details needed to run.

From the President:

Dear Members ,
I would like to announce that I will be running for club President again. I would
like to be your President because I like what I'm doing very much I think Im
doing a great job. I have represented the club here at BHcare and up in Hartford
at the capital. I have spoken to many of our representative's advocating for our
benefits and our rights. Here at our club I chaperone many of the club activities
by driving the club van. I also help serve lunch in the club as well as cook for the
dinners and put together the club newsletter. The main reason I want to continue being your President is because I really love being at the club working for
you all. It means so much to serve you all and making the club at the best it can
be ! That why we became the social club of the year.

From the Vice President:

I would like to run in my current position as Vice President for another term of
two years providing that Julianne remains President for that period. I like the
way we work together and, I really think we run things in a way thats beneficial
to all our members. The club is always a work in progress and I think our
commitment to how things happen here keeps moral and others participation
active as it is. We have fun, and are willing to take up responsibilities that need
to be taken to make the fun possible. I like being a model club member for others to guide them as I have been guided to get to where I am today. Giving back
and sharing a part of myself as others before me did for me. I will take my job
seriously and do the best that I can to make the club a great place to be. Please
consider me as Vice President for another term ! Thank you. Sylvia H.

From the Secretary:

I would like to run for another term as Secretary of the club. I really enjoy serving my fellow club members and representing their interests. Helping out means
so much to me because the club has given so much to me over the past few
years. You all are like family. Please consider reelecting me for another term. I
promise not to disappoint you. Paula B.

ONE DAY AT A TIME BY GAYLE A.

One year a go my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. It was
hard for me and my family to deal with so I took her to a
neurologist and found out that she had short term memory loss
too. Mom has to call me all the time and ask me where things are
in the house. I have to bring her to the Doctor and to visit friends
and family. So together we are learning about this disease and
how to deal with it.

CATHYS THOUGHTS
Have you seen, have you seen the sky on fire? Just before the sun is up?
Seen a humming bird sip nectar from a morning glory's cups?
Have you seen the world reflected in a crystal drop of dew?

Seen the sunshine paint a rainbow when the summer storm is through?
Have you seen the color spectrum in the ripples of a stream?
Seen the full moons yellow magic cast a summers evenings dream?
Have you seen an eagle soaring ,seen the gentle mourning dove?
Then youve seen God paint a picture with paintbrush of his love.

THE CLUB TRIP TO WADSWORTH STATE PARK

IN MEMORY OF A FRIEND
People come and go from our little family here at the club. But one
of our own for the past 25 years or so has passed on. Richard W.
was a great Red Sox and Patriots fan. He also cared
his about his friends and family. Richard always had
a smile and said hello to everyone. Rich will be
missed especially at Tuesday Bingo! See you again one
day!

PICNIC IN THE RAIN BY CARL R.

Like the old saying goes rain, rain go way come back some other
day. Well it did not work out the day of our club picnic.
It drizzled all day but we had fun anyways . We went to
Wadsworth State Park. We enjoyed the falls and had a
great lunch cooked on the grill. Even though we didn't
get to play any games or stay very long it still was a
great day.
