SKU Description Summary

Capacity Based License
Includes license-to-use (LTU) based on the volume (in Terabyte) of primary data protected by HP Data Protector software. The capacity based license includes license-to-use (LTU) for
Cell Managers and Manager-of-Managers, Tape Drives and Libraries, Online Backup & Granular Recovery Extensions, Zero Downtime Backup & Instant Recovery, Advanced Backup to
Disk & NDMP.
Note: Capacity based license doesnt include Software Encryption extension LTU and ZDB for non-HP arrays.

Starter Packs REQUIRED for Traditional License Scheme

The Starter Pack license-to-use (LTU) includes the license for:

one Cell Manager on the specified platform

unlimited number of Backup Agents on any platform

one tape drive license (B6951xx contains 1xB6953AA, and B6961xx contains 1xB6963AA)

built-in media management

libraries up to 60 slots

System Disaster Recovery options

sophisticated reporting (in the Data Protector GUI and via the web)

service-centric management through integrations into HP software

Drive & Library Extension

Drive - You need as many licenses as there are tape drives in use at any point in time. This is typically the total number of configured drives to allow all drives to be used
simultaneously. A backup drive can be a tape drive, a logical drive on disk (backup to disk using a file device), or Magneto Optical drive. The drive can be accessed and managed locally
or via the network from a system with any Data Protector license. Drive licenses cannot be shared between multiple cells.
B6953AA: Includes the license-to-use (LTU) for one backup drive directly attached to a UNIX system, a NAS device, used in a SAN, or used for serverless backup. Drives attached to HP
MPE/iX systems and HP OpenVMS systems require this license. This LTU is also required for NAS systems managed via NDMP (for example, NetApp Filers and EMC Celerra File Servers).
B6963AA: Includes the license-to-use (LTU) for one additional backup drive directly attached to a Windows, NetWare or Linux (Intel) system. This license is valid for drives attached to
NAS devices powered by Windows, NetWare or Linux, which can run a standard Data Protector Media Agent.
Library - The library extensions license-to-use (LTU) includes the license for managing tape libraries within one Data Protector cell. One license per library is required.

This license is based on the physical slots inside the library, not logical slots.

Libraries with the capability to create virtual partitions also require the license based on the number of physically available slots once per physical library.

In case of library sharing between multiple cells, the Manager-of-Managers LTU is required for each cell to license the library across all cells with one license.

Advanced Backup to Disk

Includes the license-to-use (LTU) for 1 TB of backup disk storage. Required once per terabyte (TB) of usable native capacity of backup disk storage.
The Advanced Backup to Disk license is required to back up to a Data Protector file library or a Software StoreOnce backup to disk device and can be used instead of drive licenses to
back up to a Virtual Tape Library.

Usable native capacity of a Data Protector file library is the size on disk of all files used for the file library, as reported by the file system.

Usable native capacity of a virtual tape library (VTL) is the size on disk of the virtual tape library consumed by all protected Data Protector backups as reported by the VTL.

For each VTL, you can choose whether to use the backup to disk or tape drive licensing model. Within one VTL, both concepts must not been mixed.

Application Protection
Online Backup - The on-line extension license-to-use (LTU) includes the license to perform on-line backup of databases and applications running on the specified platform.

The Windows file system backup using Data Protector Disk Agent together with the Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) option is supported at no extra charge.
However, backups using the Data Protector VSS integration require the on-line backup extension.

vStorage API for data protection (VADP) and VMware ESX/ESXi Server backup require one Online Backup LTU for Windows, Linux license per ESX/ESXi server. NOTE: On-line
extension Windows/Linux licenses are no longer required for VCB Proxy, and VMware Virtual Center servers.
Granular Recovery - The Granular Recovery Extension is required for each source server that contains a content database, protected by Data Protector, from which a single document, a
directory or an entire site may be recovered. For other backup sources like offline backups or 3rd party backup, one GRE license is needed per target server, where items will be
recovered to with GRE.
Zero Downtime Backup - The Zero Downtime Backup extension license-to-use (LTU) includes the license for the number of terabytes (TB) of used disk space capacity for a specified
operating system where the ZDB agent is installed. This license is no longer based on the array type.

Instant Recovery - The Instant Recovery extension license-to-use (LTU) includes the license for the number of terabytes (TB) specified of used disk space capacity, required for the
Instant Recovery from a specified operating system (Windows/Linux/Unix). Data Protector Instant Recovery enables recovery of terabytes of data from one or multiple recovery disks
in minutes, rather than recovery from tape, which could take hours.

DVD Media SKUs

The base Data Protector media kit consists of 3 DVDs, including HP Data Protector for all platforms, all integrations into other HP software, and electronic manuals.

HP Backup Navigator and Operations Manager Integrations

Both HP Backup Navigator and Management Pack license are valid for use with either Traditional or Capacity based Data Protector implementations.
Backup Navigator Follows the same model as Data Protector Capacity based license; per TB requires an LTU. The total capacity is calculated based on the total size of the full backup
or the Synthetic Full backups. The Single Cell Manager LTU enables Backup Navigator for a single Data Protector Cell Manager with up to 10TB of full backup capacity of data that is
protected by Data Protector. For additional Cell Managers or capacity above 10TB upgrade using H7U59AA/E.
Operations Managers One LTU is required per Data Protector Cell Manager. DP Smart Plug-in includes integration with HP Operations Manager. DP Management Pack includes
integration with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager.

Data Protector Education

HP Autonomy Education Training Units are available for sale and can be applied towards Data Protector training. The HP Autonomy Education Training Unit is a flexible and simple way
for customers to purchase training. It is a unit based account of funds that can be used towards the purchase of HP Autonomy Education training products or services up to 12 months
after purchase. HP Autonomy training units can be used for HP Data Protector and HP Records Manager trainings.
