Thy pierced Side, O Giver of Life, poured Streams of Remission, Life, and Salvation upon us all. By accepting Death in the Flesh, Thou hast granted us Immortality; by taking up Thine Abode in the Tomb, Thou hast set us all free, and as God Thou hast raised us up with Thee in Glory: Wherefore we cry aloud: O Lord and Loving God: Glory to Thee!

And He established the world, which shall not be moved.

Strange were Thy Crucifixion and Descent into Hades, O Loving God, for after despoiling hades, as God, Thou raised up in Glory with Thyself those held captive in times of old, and Thou opened Paradise which Thou permitted them to enjoy. Cleanse us therefore, from sin, who Glorify Thy Resurrection on the Third Day, and make us Worthy to dwell in Paradise, for Thou alone art Compassionate.

Holiness is proper to Thy House, O Lord, unto length of days.

For our sake Thou accepted Suffering in the Flesh, and Rose from the dead on the Third Day. Heal the passions of the flesh and raise us from our Grievous Iniquities, and Save us, O Loving God.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and to the Ages of ages.

O Holy Mother Euphrosyne, Thou art admirable. Thou longed for what Thy name denotes – Happiness – and Thou travelled the Path of Life that produces it. Saint. We imbibe the Sweet Wine from these, and the senses of our souls art truly sweetened by imitating Thee. And in accordance with Thy name, which means happiness, we feel Divine Happiness, as we reject the intoxication of sin, and we cry out: O Most Modest Saint, importune Christ continually, that He grant Concord, Peace and Mercy to the whole wide world.

For His Mercy rules over us; and the Truth of the Lord endures forever.

Thy situation was unusual and naturally hard to believe – how Thou eluded the cunning devices of the devil who seduced Eve of old, living in the company of men, as Thou did, with such a perfect frame of mind; how Thou passed through the midst of fire and remained unscathed; how Thou concealed Thy feminine frailty, Strengthened as Thou were by the Divine Power of the Lord, Who has assumed our weakness, and was born of the Virgin. As Thou dance now with Angels, pray to Him earnestly, that He grant concord, Peace and Mercy to the whole wide world.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit

Thou preserved Thyself chaste and undefiled by men, and thus Thou became a Bride of Christ, O All Blessed Euphrosyne. By Ascetic Labours Thou withered Thy physical beauty, but Thy beautiful soul with the good looks of Grace. Thou concealed Thy femininity beneath a masculine demeanour, Thou live an Angelic Lie, and thus eluded the traps of Belial. Now we Entreat Thee to pray for Peace, for us who extol Thee with longing; for Thy name means Joy, and Thou bring Joy to the world.

Now and ever, and to the Ages of ages.

Amen

In the Red Sea, an Image of the Bride who knew not Wedlock, was depicted once. For there, of old, did Moses sever the water; and here is Gabriel, the Server of the Wonder. At that time Israel traversed the deep, without getting wet; and now, the Virgin gave Birth to Christ, without seed. The sea, after the passage of Israel, remained impassable; the blameless Maid remained incorrupt after the Conception of Emmanuel. O God, the One Who is and ever was and Appeared as Man: have Mercy on us.
