Kemadruma yoga ( )

According to Varahamihira in Vrihatjatak Kemadruma yoga occurs when there is no

planets on both sides of the Moon at the time of birth. It is considered an inauspicious yoga.
Natives born with this yoga will be dirty, sorrowful, doing unrighteous deeds, poor,
dependent, a rogue and a swindler. This yoga also causes Rajayogabhanga, which can
destroy the benefits of all Raja yogas. According to Srutakirti, Kemadruma yoga arises if
there are no planets in the 4th and 10th bhavas from the Moon.
How is Kemadruma Yoga formed?
In astrology Kemadruma yoga is an important yoga made by the position of the Moon in the
birth chart. Moon is the significator of mind, emotions and feelings and when it is alone think
useless and gives rise to anxiety. Kemadruma Yoga is formed when there are no planets in
the 2nd and in the 12th house from the house occupied by the Moon in the birth chart, and
when there is no planet in conjunction of Moon or when no benefic planet is aspecting Moon.
Placement of nodes either side of Moon not considered as they are the shadow planets. The
presence of the Sun in either sides of moon makes no difference.
Natives born in this yoga have to face hardships, atleast once in life. Native may be illiterate
or less educated, poor, may be stupid also if other planetary positions are not favourable.
Native is unable to get proper happiness of life and children. Native have to live far from
home, always trying to make relatives happy. Native does useless talk and cheapness of
behaviour is also seen. Native is poor and have sorrows. Kemadruma yoga is not as bad as it
is said to be. People should not afraid of it. As it does not always give malefic influence
rather it gives power and capacities to face adversities of life. By facing them people can
build their luck and can feel the pleasures of good life.
How is Kemadruma yoga cancelled?
Sometimes this yoga gives good results. Native get success in his ventures and also get fame
in life. It is due to the cancellation of Kemadruma yoga. If it is there then it will give good
results and also give banefits of other yogas presence in the birth chart. There are many
situations of Moon when native dont realise the malefic influence of this yoga. The evil
effects of Kemadruma yoga are not felt in case the Moon is situated in its sign of exaltation or
in the sign of benefic planet and aspected by benefics or if Venus occupying a quadrant
receives the aspect of Jupiter or if the Moon (preferably the Full Moon) in conjunction with a
benefic or posited in a quadrant other than the Ascendant is aspected by Jupiter or if there is a
planet occupying a quadrant from the Ascendant or the Moon. If these position exists in the
navansh chart then also this yoga get cancelled. Then Kemadruma yoga gets cancelled, the
person does not become a pauper and able to get the benefits of other rajayogas.
There are many other yogas which afflicting the Moon giving rise to Daridra yogas resulting
in poverty are also known as Kemadruma yogas. The Moon in conjunction with nodes
aspected by a malefic or aspected by a benefic defeated in Grahayuddha (planetary warfare).
A malefic Moon situated in the 8th afflicted by a malefic for a night-birth. The Moon in

conjunction with a malefic occupying a malefic rasi and in malefic navamsa for a night-time
birth, Malefic Moon is in its debilitated sign in navamsa with a malefic and aspecting the 9th
lord.
