The Addams Family Musical: Audition Prep Sheet

Audition dates: September 6th and 8th

AUDITION INFO
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for The Addams Family Musical! I know auditions
can be hectic and crazy, so Ive put together an audition packet that should help every
person auditioning! This musical has a lot of fun music as well as choreographed dancing,
so please be sure to bring your energy to auditions, we want to see what you have to offer.
There will be two days of auditions. Callbacks will take place Friday, September 9 th.
Day 1 of Auditions (regular audition days)
Everyone will perform their selected monologue (listed in packet).
Everyone will learn a dance perform the choreography in small groups.
Day 2 of Auditions (regular audition days)
Dance auditions will continue.

Additional Notes:
Since this is a musical with a lot of dancing, we request that you come wearing comfortable
clothes and either dance or tennis shoes.
Be on time so that you can stretch and warm up!
Once you start your monologues and dancing, stay in character. This is very important for
all roles.
Keep in mind the roles of Wednesday and Lucas as well as Morticia and Gomez need to have
amazing chemistry on stage, through speaking, singing, dancing and movement.

Musical and Character Descriptions
(Do not be discouraged by these descriptions they are meant to guide you and not to
deter you from auditioning for a specific role.)
A musical comedy, embracing every fathers nightmare! Wednesday Addams, known for her
love of darkness, has fallen in love with a sweet man from a seemingly respectable family.
Wednesday is falling in love, Gomez is having to keep a secret from his love, Morticia, and
Pugsley is, well, still Pugsley. Everything will change on the night they host a dinner for
Wednesdays boyfriend and his normal family.
GOMEZ ADDAMS
Male, appearing 40-50 years old
Smart, comedic actor, tenor vocals
A man of Spanish descent who takes great pride in his family and revels in all it means to be
an Addams. He struggles keeping his daughters secret from his wife, whom he adores more
than death. Husband to Morticia, if indeed they are married at all
UNCLE FESTER
Male, appearing 30-40
Vaudeville-style Comedian, tenor vocals
The androgynous family member who serves as the musicals narrator. Hes larger than life,
an energetic, joyous, child-like presence. Uncle Fester is incorrigible and, except for the
good nature of the family and the ignorance of the police, would ordinarily be under lock and
key.
LUCAS BEINEKE
Male, appearing 18-24
Tenor Vocals
Attractive male. Fell in love with Wednesday Addams and plans to marry her. Experiences
the youthful pain and drama of young love and struggles with the differences between his
family and the Addams family. Lucas is a normal guy with a bit of a dark side.

MAL BEINEKE
Male, appearing 40-55
Classic Male Character, high baritone/tenor vocals
Stuffy father of Lucas and exasperated husband to his rhyming Stepford wife, Alice. At one
time was a follower of The Grateful Dead but has lost that side of himself. Always looking out
for his family.
LURCH
Male, appearing 30-60
A very tall male character, the Addams butler who knows all. He speaks in moans and
groans. Talks in moans and groans.
Pugsley Addams
Male, Tenor vocals
Appearing 10-14
A charming, funny, boy who loves being tortured by his sister. He wants to ensure he wont
lose his sister to her new boyfriend so he takes matters into his own hands. Strong, high
vocals. Voice not yet changed.
MORTICIA ADDAMS
Female, Alto/mezzo soprano vocals
Strong Matriarch, appearing 40-55
Attractive, leggy, woman - the strength of the family. An easy comedic actress with a sexy,
dry wit. Feels her husband is hiding something from her and will use any tactic to lure the
secret out. The real head of the family.
WEDNESDAY ADDAMS
Female, Pop Soprano/ mezzo-soprano vocals
Adventurous daughter, appearing 16-21
Wednesday is a girl who has the same dry wit and sensibility of her mother. Finds love with a
normal boy (Lucas) and wants to introduce his family to hers. Experiences the youthful
drama that comes with first love.
ALICE BEINEKE
Female, Soprano vocals
Charming housewife comedic actress, appears 30-40
Mother of Lucas, devoted to her family so she puts aside her own desires. In shape, quirky
female who often speaks in rhyme. While at the Addams Family dinner party, she drinks a
potion that causes her to let her hair down and speak her truth.
GRANDMAMA
Female, Character vocals
Comedic actress, appearing 60-80
Shes one feisty old woman. Fun and quirky, but dont mess with Grand-mama. This
disrespectful old hag is mother to Gomez.
Addams Ancestors
Male & Female, all vocal ranges
Ancestors of the Addams family who now live on the other side, but are summoned once a
year to come celebrate with the family.

MONOLOGUES
GOMEZ ADDAMS Where are we from? Funny you should ask. July 31st, 1715. The
Spanish warship, Pico de Gallo, commanded by my great nautical ancestor, Captain General
Redondo Ventana Laguna Don Jose Cuervo, leaves Madrid, bound for the new world. Three
weeks later, he is still in Madrid, as Madrid is over four hundred miles from the nearest
ocean. A stubborn man, he sets sail anyway, only to sink, six months later, off the southern
coast of Floridaa hostile land, infested with mosquitoes, rattlesnakes, and many retired
Jewish peoples. But enough about us!
UNCLE FESTER Storms passed. Think Ill get a little moon. Yoo hoo, where are you
hiding? Are you playing with me, my only one? There you are! Look at her. Lovely, is she
not? And so far away. Yes, in matters of love, my dears, distance is our friend. Closeness? No
thank you. Quarter of a million miles away--thats a good distance for romance. We never
fight, each waning is a heartbreaking separation. Each meeting, a happy reunion.
LUCAS BEINEKE I work after school at the bookstore. And on weekends, I tutor kids at a
charter school. And summers I work at my uncles grocery. On my time off, I mostly think
about Wednesday and how much I love her and how we could have a wonderful life together.
One day, Ill be a writer. Or maybe a medical examiner. You get to look inside peoples bodies
and they dont mind, because theyre dead.
MAL BEINEKE OK, Addams, I tried. I thought OK, the kids like each other, lets give it a
shot. But you people are insane. You got a house where there shouldnt be a house, a
zombie for a butler, and a man whos dating the moon. Were simple people, Mister Addams.
Were not used to your sophisticated New York lifestyle. So with your permission, were
gonna go back to the real America. Full disclosure. Lucas, help your mother off the table.
PUGSLEY ADDAMS Grandma, what if there was this girl who met this person and hes all
like, Hey, its the Pugster. What up, little man? and shes all like golly and were going to
go now and theyre running away together. What if she doesnt get rid of him? What if all
the good times are already behind me? What if she never tortures me anymore? I could stab
my arm myself, and I could spray myself with mace, but it just wouldnt be the same without
her.
MORTICIA ADDAMS I gave up my dreams for the sake of this family. I wanted to travel. I
wanted to see Paris So thats how it ends, huh? Alone and forgotten in a tiny room, living
on cat food and broken dreamswhats what happens to mothers. Look at yours. She came
for the weekend, the weeks turned into months, its twelve years later and shes still up
there: deceived, deluded, smoking in the attic. A grandma. Well, Im not going to end up like
your mother. You lied to me, and I cant live with that.`
WEDNESDAY ADDAMS OK, family meeting. About tonight. Now. Heres the schedule.
First, we have drinks, like Hi, nice to meet you. And then theyll want to see the house, and
then at eight, well have dinner and they can be back at their hotel by nine thirty. Oh please,
Daddy! Its just a dinner, and theyre dying to meet youand I promised Lucasand you
know how I hate to break a promise. Daddy, Im your only daughter and your eldest child,
and if you cant do this one thing for me, then I just dont know what!
ALICE BEINEKE - Its a lovely dress, Wednesday! Yellow is the color of the warming sun.
Yellow is the color of yumminess and fun. Why not show the world the love in which we all
believe? Why not wear your heart for all to see, right on your sleeve? Oh, the rhyming? You
see, When
Im depressed or feeling blessed, a poem will get it off my chest. They come to me, they take
no time, they just pop out, and always rhyme!
GRANDMAMA The kid and I had a little heart-to-heart before. I told him to use his time
wisely. Look whos talkinghow much time have I got left? Im a hundred and two, I have
shingles and arthritis, and when I break wind it could start the windmills on an old Dutch

painting. But, Ive still got one more round in me. Call me Cougar, but fivell get you ten
theres a couple of 90-year-old hotties out there just waiting to chow down on a Grandma
