Mock trial

Judge: YOU WILL BE GRADED ON YOUR EFFORT, YOUR KNOWLEDGE, AND THE
COMPLETION OF YOUR WORKSHEET. You will be expected to take notes throughout the
trial on every single testimony, and at the end of the trial, you will turn in to me your
worksheet that shows me that you have understood and followed the trial closely. Before
the trial: understand all of the objections that lawyers raise, when to sustain and
overrule. Also, you will need to know how to maintain the trial (order of operation) and to
keep order in the court!

Defense attorneys: YOU WILL BE GRADED ON YOUR EFFORT, THE IMPORTANCE AND
VALUE OF YOUR QUESTIONS TO WITNESSES, THE SERIOUSNESS YOU TAKE IN YOUR ROLE,
THE NOTES AND QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN DOWN, AND YOUR OPENING AND
CLOSING STATEMENTS. You will be expected to sit down with your 2 witnesses, and have 8
10 questions for them. You will also be expected to have 5-10 questions written down
that you will ask each of the prosecutions witnesses. Before the trial: have extensive
knowledge of ALL witnesses. Have questions prepared for ALL of the witnesses, and have
a story ready to present to the Jury. Also have extensive knowledge of OBJECTIONS.

Prosecuting Attorneys: YOU WILL BE GRADED ON YOUR EFFORT, THE IMPORTANCE AND
VALUE OF YOUR QUESTIONS TO WITNESSES, THE SERIOUSNESS YOU TAKE IN YOUR ROLE,
THE NOTES AND QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN DOWN, AND YOUR OPENING AND
CLOSING STATEMENTS. You will be expected to sit down with ALL of your witnesses before
the trial starts, and have 8-10 questions written down for all of them. Also, you will need
to have 5-10 questions for the defenses witnesses during cross-examination. Before the
trial: have extensive knowledge of ALL witnesses. Have questions prepared for ALL of the
witnesses, and have a story ready to present to the Jury. Also have extensive knowledge
of OBJECTIONS.

Baliff/court officer: YOU WILL BE GRADED ON YOUR EFFORT, THE SERIOUSNESS YOU
TAKE IN YOUR ROLE, YOUR ABILITY TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO AND SAY,
AND THE COMPLETION OF YOUR WORKSHEET. You will be expected to study your
transcript and copy it down to turn in. You will need to take this role serious and know
when you are supposed to do your part. Before the trial: have your statements ready
and memorized. Also, know the court procedures, and be ready to swear in all witnesses.

Jury: YOU WILL BE GRADED ON YOUR LEVEL OF ATTENTION, THE SERIOUSNESS Y OU TAKE
IN YOUR PART, AND THE COMPLETION OF YOUR WORKSHEET. You will be expected to sit
quietly during the entire trial, silently completing your worksheet and thinking about the
evidence in the trial. If you are not paying attention or are talking, you will lose points!
Before the trial: you will need to read through the description of the crime, know the

court procedures. Know what Objections are as well as what sustained and overruled
means.

Witnesses: YOU WILL BE GRADED ON YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR PART. YOU ARE
EXPECTED TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE ENTIRE TESTIMONY OF YOUR PART. YOU WILL
ALSO HAVE TO SIT DOWN WITH EITHER THE PROSECUTOR OR THE DEFENSE AND ANSWER
QUESTIONS. YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO TURN IN YOUR COMPLETED WORKSHEET. You will
be expected to take your role serious and be ready to answer anything that is thrown at
you. You will be graded on how prepared you are and you will lose points if you have no
clue what to say. Before the trial: sit down with your attorneys and have a question and
answer session, as well as memorizing your testimony. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO
KNOWYOUR TESTIMONY!!
