Revival

Almost immediately after the decision Hartmann again to enter military service in the German Air Force began

Hartmann's character took shape in the fire of the Soviet camps, was to forge his suffering and hardened by processes

difficulties. "
Erich openly expressed this opinion to General Kammhuberu. He noted that in the development of German air up there

been solved. The rest are not only alive today and have from 800 to 1,000 flight hours in the F104.
Erich between alerts regarding F104 and the confirmation of his cruel truth that he was the target of dirty tricks

people. For several years he lived in relative obscurity as a specialist in the development of tactical schemes and
watched as the people he taught while serving in the JG71 obtained the rank of colonel before him. He was pleased
to have seen the success of "their guys." Among his allies were a few senior officers, who admired him, but their

efforts to achieve the rank of Colonel Hartmann regularly disrupted. He received the title until mid1969. By this time
he was 8 years went to the rank of lieutenant colonel, and denial of conferring the title of the officer who had the
highest awards in the German armed forces, already looked silly.
While Eric was a little disappointed, he still has not lost a sense of humor and a philosophical view of things, believing
that everything in life runs fate. He kept on politicians with disgust [283] looked upon as a necessary evil. However, in
his work, he was able to fully develop analytical skills and intuition, developing tactical instructions.
All who knew him, unanimously agreed that the German Air Force just do not know what to do with this outstanding
pilot, how to turn it to their advantage worldwide fame as the use preserved by the old soldier seething energy.
Uncompromising individualist, he continued to live according to his own notions of fairness, justice and honor. He was
a hero with weaknesses. However, they can be understood, and they were simply a continuation of his merits as a
person.
Knight blond hair began to darken, and the weight of past years and started to affect him. His face is like combat

Epilogue
Shortly after the first publication of this book, Colonel Erich Hartmann resigned and returned to his old village house.
His friends Dieter Hrabak, Walter Krupinski and Gunther Rall, all who had the rank of general, persuaded Erich soften
its position on the military. They asked him to show some tact and stay in the Luftwaffe, where he was promoted to
General.
All other fans Erich also tried to influence him. However, a firm bias Erich remained unshaken. He relied on the tried
and tested formula in action: "I saw decided attacked." The decision was made, and Erich refused to change it. He
assumed his duty as an officer to give superiors correct advice, honestly expounding their views on any issue. However,
once they make the decisions, they should perform. Erich was not physically able to become a yesmen, as was
expected of him fascinated by political intrigue Bundeslyuftvaffe guide. He decided to go with the honor of the
unequal battle and asked for his resignation. Now he Erich Hartmann, a retired colonel.

under this motto. She became the center of his universe.

A sudden change in the fate of Hartmann in 1980 many of his friends have the jitters. He stopped attending rallies and
festivals. He stopped flying. He left his post in the association. The remaining fighter pilots realized they had lost
their leader. Only those who went to his house to meet with Erich. He told the authors that all he needed more in life,
is close to his home.
The sudden and mysterious change Hartmann led many to think that the great ace forgot old friendships. It is not.
Erich quite deliberately concealed some circumstances. He knew that the news of his illness may cause a violent
reaction among friends. However, you should know the truth if only to refute the malicious fabrications. With the
permission of the authors Erich tell the truth about this episode in his life.
In 1980 he fell ill with a heavy cold and pneumonia. It is the disease killed his father at the age of 58. Erich was very
worried. With his weak heart, he could easily follow his father. "I spent four weeks in bed, and then another 2 weeks
to recover. But I'm right! "
His brother Alfred advised him to avoid all kinds of stress. He warned that a second attack of the disease can lead to
heart attack. Erich diligently fulfilled doctor's prescription, and managed to win the most difficult fight of his life. By
October 1983, he recovered so that once again passed a medical examination and was allowed to fly. Erich reopened
at training schools and then became a representative of the association pilots veterans.
But Erich remains firm in the decision to stay away from motorways and highways, he refused to attend a meeting of
veterans and other holidays. Inside, it is still the same old tiger, and a meeting with old friends worry him too much.
Therefore Hartmann tries to avoid events that could be dangerous to his health. "I am retired, I am a civilian, I want
to rest easy. I exhibit shows. "

{3} Since the arrest prior to shipment to the Eastern Front, many officers of the Luftwaffe decided that he was sent

you guys probably know this but his score has been hotly debated for several years, and it appears he did not score
anything close to 300 kills more like 180, of course this could be said of all JG 52 aces in my opinion let alone the
scores though smaller of the soviet aces as well............
