Syllabus for Religion 2:
Christian Scriptures and Sacraments
Course Overview
The bible is the number one best seller every year. This class will take the students
through the bible texts and will highlight the most important aspects of it from the
beginning to end. The New Testament course for the 10th graders will include the
entirety of the New Testament from the gospels to revelations.
Major Course Objectives
Students will recognize different passages throughout the New Testament and see
how the teachings of Jesus and his disciples changed the way Jewish traditional
religion was taught.

Textbook, Instructional Materials, Resources


Students will mostly use the bible and other online materials for this course. Online
materials will be given to the students as needed.

Explanation of Letter Grades:


An A signifies that the quality of the students work in general was excellent and that
the
student made an exceptionally serious effort throughout the course. In addition, it
indicates that
the student was highly motivated, exhibited genuine initiative, and was quite actively
engaged in
the course. Furthermore, it implies that the student demonstrated not only a clear
mastery of the
material covered in the course, but also an unusual ability to employ it in remarkably
creative
and useful ways.
A B signifies that the quality of the students work in general was significantly above
average

and that the student made a serious effort throughout the course. In addition, it indicates
that the
student was highly motivated, demonstrated genuine initiative, and was actively
engaged
throughout the course.
A C signifies that the quality of the students work in general was satisfactory and that
the
student made a serious effort throughout the court.
A D signifies that the quality of the students work was relatively weak or significantly
below
average in numerous cases.
Technology
Some of the technologies that will be used for this course include iPads, Power
Point, Microsoft Word, Ebackpack, and Power School. The major app needed for this
course is the Laudate app.
Student Expectations
Students in this class are expected to follow all guidelines seen in the Student
Manuel as well as any other rules given by the instructor of this course.
Classroom Rules:
1. Students must be seated at their assigned seat by the time the bell rings. If
students are not in their seats they will be marked late for class and demerits will
be given.
2. Students talking while the teacher is talking also will receive demerits.
3. If students are seen as disrespectful towards either the teacher or other
students, I have the right to remove them from the classroom which will also result
in demerits.
Cheating:
Anyone who is caught cheating will automatically receive a zero on an
assignment and will also receive demerits.
Plagiarism:
Anyone who plagiarizes or cheats WILL EARN A ZERO FOR THE ASSIGNMENT. There
are no exceptions to this rule, and it applies to ALL written work.
Plagiarism is defined as presenting someone elses work, including the work of
other students,
as ones own. Any ideas or materials taken from another source for either written
or oral use
must be fully acknowledged, unless the information is common knowledge. What is
considered
common knowledge may differ from course to course. A student must not adopt
or reproduce
ideas, opinions, theories, formulas, graphics, or pictures of another person without

acknowledgment. A student must give credit to the originality of others and


acknowledge an
indebtedness whenever: 1. Directly quoting another persons actual words,
whether oral or
written; 2. Using another persons ideas, opinions, or theories; 3. Paraphrasing the
words, ideas,
opinions, or theories of others, whether oral or written; 4. Borrowing facts,
statistics, or
illustrative material; or 5. Offering materials assembled or collected by others in
the form of
projects or collections without acknowledgment.1

Availability:
I am available 7th and 9th period every day during the week and I am able to stay
after school on most days to help any student who believes they need it. If a
student is struggling or simply just has questions about the source material or
results on an examination. It is the students obligation to seek help if need, I am
willing to put time and effort into all my students to make sure that they will
succeed and do well in my class.
