List of Typhoon Occurrences in Coron, Palawan

1. Typhoon ASIANG (June 24- 28, 1992)


ASIANG was the first tropical cyclone which developed inside Philippine
Are of Responsibility (PAR) (east of Samar). It maintained the
northwestward movement and then recurved sparing the country.
Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in June 24
2. Typhoon Openg (August 5-8, 1993)
The only consequence of this typhoon on the islands was the monsoon
rains experienced over western Luzon

Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in August 8
3. Tropical Storm SALING (August 22- 26, 1993)
Signal No. 1 in Culion
Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in August 22
4. Typhoon NANING (December 6-12, 1993)
Signal No. 2 in Culion and Coron
Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in December 11
5. Typhoon KLARING (May 13-14, 1994)
KLARING became a tropical depression over the Caroline Group on May
12, and turned into a tropical storm the next day.
No Typhoon Signal Warning was in effect

6. Typhoon ILIANG (July 7-10, 1994)
ILIANG did not cross the country however, it induced the southwest
flow that brought rains over the western section of the country

7. Tropical Storm OYANG (July 25- 29)
Signal No. 1 in Coron

8. Typhoon ANING (September 26, 1994)
Typhoon ANING had just passed the extreme northeastern border of
the PAR. No Typhoon Signal warning was in effect.

Signal No. 1 in Coron
Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in October 21
10.Tropical Storm HELMING (September 2-6, 1995)
Signal No. 1 in Coron
Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in September 3
11.Tropical Storm MAMENG (September 27- Ocotober 2, 1995)
Signal No 1 in Coron
Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in September 30

12.Typhoon KONSING (May 11- 17, 1996)


Signal No. 1 in Coron
Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in May 16, 1996
13.Tropical Storm BINING (May 26- 29, 1997)
Confirmed casulaties reached 39 dead, 4 missing and 23 injured.
Proclaimed calalmity areas by the President were Metro Manila, Rizal,
Zamabales, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga
Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in May 27, 1997
14.Tropical Storm GORING (July 30- 31, 1997)
Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in July 31
It is the second tropical cyclone that had formed over the South China
Sea for the year 1997
15.Typhoon IBIANG (August 15- 17, 1997)
Affected Areas: Regions I, III, IV, NCR, VI, IX
Caualties: Dead- 36, Injured- 11, Missing -2
Coron experienced the maximum 24 hr- RR(mm) in August 16
16.Typhoon AURING ( January 6-7, 1999)
AURING has been a minimal tropical depression that eventually
dissipated at sea.

17.Typhoon Yolanda
Coron and Culion was one of the provinces under state of calamity
In terms of damages, 3,223 houses were partially damaged (certain
parts of the house e.g the roof or window was destroyed) and 1,589
houses were totally wrecked, plus 1,630 hectares of crops were
damaged in terms of agriculture.
