Relevance of CO with POs

Course Outcome 1: Explain the Architecture of 8086 Microprocessor
This CO aims to explain the architecture of 8086 microprocessor. This makes the
student to understand the basic knowledge of 8086 microprocessor. So, CO1
moderately contributes to PO (a). Course Outcome 1 weakly contributes to POs
(b,c & d). Assignment is given to group of students, so formulated CO1
moderately contributes to PO (i). The formulated CO1 do not contribute to the
other POs.

Course Outcome 2:

Develop 8086 Assembly Language Programs using

Cross Assembler and MASM
CO2 aims to develop 8086 assembly language programs using use XASM (Cross
Assembler) and MASM. As the students are able to write assembly language
programs on their own, this CO strongly contributes to PO (a) and so a 3 is given
to it. Moreover, using the basic knowledge of instruction set, the students will be
able to analyze an assembly language program and debug it. Hence, a value of
moderate contribution is given to PO (b). The POs (c & d) are weakly linked with
the formulated CO2 and so a 1 is given to them. As the students use XASM and
MASM to develop the programs for various concepts, there exists a weak
contribution of CO2 to PO (e). The formulated CO2 do not contribute to the other
POs.

Course Outcome 3: Apply the interfacing concepts of IO/Memory and Serial /

Parallel Communication
The formulated CO3 aims to apply the interfacing concepts of IO/Memory and
Serial / Parallel Communication. As the students are able to develop the interface
programming on their own, this CO strongly contributes to PO (a) and so a 3 is
given to it. Moreover, using the basic knowledge of IO/Memory, serial port and
parallel port interfacing will be able to analyze an interfacing circuit and
troubleshoot it. Hence, a 2 that correlates to moderate contribution is given to
PO (b). The POs (c & d) are weakly linked with the formulated CO3 and so a 1 is
given to them. Assignment is given to group of students, so formulated CO3

moderately contributes to PO (i). The formulated CO3 do not contribute to the

other POs.

Course Outcome 4: Explain the Architecture of 8051 Microcontroller

The students will be able to explain the architecture of 8051 microcontroller. A
moderate contribution is provided by CO4 to PO (a). Course Outcome 4 weakly
contributes to PO (b). The POs (c & d) are weakly linked with the formulated CO4
and so a 1 is given to them. The formulated CO4 do not contribute to the other
POs.

Course Outcome 5: Develop and test the 8051 Assembly Language programs
for simple applications using Cross Assembler
CO5 aims to Develop and test the 8051 Assembly Language programs for simple
applications using Cross Assembler. So, there is strong contribution of CO5 to PO
(a). As the students would be analyze the choice of 8051 Microcontrollers for a
particular application a 2 is given to PO (b). The POs (c & d) are weakly linked
with the formulated CO5 and so a 1 is given to them. As the students use XASM
to develop the programs for various concepts, there exists a weak contribution of
CO5 to PO (e). The formulated CO5 do not contribute to the other POs.

Course Outcome 6: Design and implement Arduino board based control

applications (Content beyond the Syllabus)
CO6 aims to design and implement Arduino board based control applications.
This is given as a mini project. As it is a designing and program development
exercise it strongly contributes to PO (a), moderately contributes to PO (b & c)
and weakly contributes to PO (d). As the students use Arduino board to develop
the programming concepts, there exists a weak contribution of CO6 to PO (e). In
the mini project work, students are divided into few groups, so formulated CO6
moderately contributes to PO (i). The formulated CO6 do not contribute to the
other POs.

Program Specific Outcome 1:

The Course Outcomes 2,3,5 and 6 strongly contributes to the Program Specific
Outcome 1 as students would use the basic knowledge to develop ALPs for
memory and I/O interfacing. The Course Outcomes 1 and 4 moderately
contributes to the Program Specific Outcome 1 as students would understand the
architecture of 8086 Microprocessor and 8051 Microcontroller.

Program Specific Outcome 2:

The Course Outcomes 2,5 and 6 weakly contributes to Program Specific Outcome
2 as students would use the software tools to design and develop the ALPs. The

Course Outcomes 1,3 and 4 are not contributes to the Program Specific Outcome
2.
