Classroom Expectations
You will
Be in class on time, with all the materials you need, ready to start the period.
Treat me, your classmates, subs, the classroom, and yourself with respect.
Complete all homework in a timely, honest and responsible manner.
Use lecture time to pay attention, take good notes and participate in discussions.
Use work time to begin math homework and ask questions.
Follow all school rules.
Consequences
Failure to meet the classroom expectations may result in
After class/school meetings.
Conference with parents, student, and counselor.
Contact with parents.
Referrals to the Dean.
Teacher detentions.
Removal from class.
Materials
You need to bring your binder/folder, a pencil, paper, and a graphing calculator to class every day.
Calculators
You will need a TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator for this course. I do not provide calculators for
assessments. Phones may not be used as calculators for assessments! (See Electronic Device Policy)
3-Ring Binder or Folder
I recommend that you get a 1-inch, 3-ring binder to hold all your work for this class. You may want to use
dividers to create sections for (1) Notes, (2) Practice Problems, and (3) Quizzes. An organized folder is also
acceptable.

Practice Problems (Homework Assignments)
Practice problems will be assigned (almost) daily, and you are expected to have your assignment
attempted/completed the following day. You will then have until the day of the next assessment to check,
correct, and complete the assignment at which point it must be turned in to be graded. Assignments will be
graded based on completion. Homework turned in with missing work will not receive full credit. You will
be responsible for checking the accuracy of your own homework.
One of the main purposes of homework is to be a self check to see if you understand the material before an
assessment. Before you turn in your assignment, you will need to write feedback on it. Tell me what you
learned from the assignment, what problems you had difficulty with, what grade you would give yourself
and why, etc. Homework without feedback may not receive full credit.
If you have difficulty completing a homework assignment, you will need to find time to get help before the
next assessment. Completing your homework daily is the best way to study for assessments and to be a
successful student.
Late Work
Practice problems should be attempted/completed daily, but you have a grace period to turn in your
assignments (so that you can check, correct, complete). Assignments turned in after the assessment will be
considered late and will only receive partial credit. I do not accept late work from a previous unit once weve
moved on to a new unit.
Assessments (Quizzes and Tests)
Expect a quiz or test every week. Since quizzes and tests will make up the majority of your grade, make sure
to study hard, get help when necessary, do your best on each and every one, and correct/revise as needed.
Quiz Corrections / Test Retakes
If all homework is complete, students may correct quizzes with me to receive 10% (a letter grade) back. If all
homework is complete, tests can be retaken after meeting with me for extra help. I expect the
correction/retake process to start (and preferably be completed) within a week of receiving an assessment
back.
Academic Detentions
Students who are below a 70% and who are missing multiple assignments may receive an Academic
Detention. Students will need to meet with me after school or during AIM to complete the missing
assignments. Also, any student that fails to use work time appropriately may receive an Academic Detention
to make up the wasted time. Failure to serve an academic detention will result in a referral to the Dean.
Checking Grades
Grades will always be available and updated on Infinite Campus. I expect you to utilize this to stay informed
of your progress in class.
Extra Credit
Dont count on extra credit to save you! I dont offer a lot. Please dont wait until its too late to do
something about your grade. Talk to me if you need some ideas on how to turn your grade around today!

Tardies and Attendance
Frequent tardies to my class may result in teacher detentions, loss of pass privileges, or referrals to the Dean.
(see Handbook for Tardy Policy)
Daily attendance is extremely important in math! Missing a day will not directly affect your grade, but since
everything we do builds on what we did before, frequent absences will be very detrimental to your
understanding. Make every effort to be in class every day.
Electronic Devices
Electronic devices will not be used in my classroom unless I have given you permission to perform a specific
task. Devices used without my permission or for a non-academic purpose (texting, games, etc.) may result in
confiscation of the device and/or a referral to the Dean for further consequences.
Extra Help
It is your responsibility to seek out extra help when you need it! Use class time to ask me any questions
you have over the material. I am also available during AIM, after school, and during certain periods in the
day. If you plan on coming in, let me know in advance so that I can make sure I am available and write you a
pass.
If you cant make it in to see me, other great sources of help include: your book, your notes, parents, siblings,
friends, classmates, other teachers, 9th Hour, and the Internet.

Dont forget to watch my videos on my YouTube channel! Also, you can find an assignment calendar and
filled out copies of the notes on in the folder I shared with you on Google Drive!

Algebra 2 students! Be sure to utilize your online textbook by going to connectED.com and setting up your
account. Besides your book, you can also watch videos, try extra practice problems, and more! Be sure to
download the app for your device!
