Guidelines for Participation

School years/Time limit:
1. Students/school groups from Years K to 12 are eligible to participate.
2. All films should be submitted in digital video format on a USB.
3. Films need to be between 1 minute and 3 minutes in length.
School Categories are:
1. Junior Primary School K-2
Class.
2. Senior Primary School 3-6
Individual,
Group,
Class.
3. Junior High School 7-9
Individual,
Group.
4. Senior High School 10-12
Individual,
Group.
Awards:
Individual certificates awarded for finalists in categories.
Perpetual trophies awarded for overall winner.
Film Styles:
1. Closing date for films: Friday 14/10/16
2. Films may be entered in the following categories: Animation / Documentary / Drama / Comedy /
Experimental.
3. There must be a ring evident at some point in the film.
Technical Requirements:
1. Videos are to be submitted on USB with no less than five (5) seconds and no more than eight (8) seconds
of black screen prior to the opening credits.
2. Production Credits are to be no more than fifteen (15) secs in length at either the beginning or end of the
video.
3. Students are strongly encouraged to submit works with self-devised soundtracks.
4. In order to fulfil Office of Film and Literature Classification Requirements, students must send a brief
outline of the plot of their entry by email to the Festival Co-ordinator at your school (approximately 100
words.
a. This must include the title of the work, the name of the director; the length of the film and a
declaration of any shots or scenes which may result in the entry not falling into a G-Rated
Classification (drug references, overt sexual themes, violent imagery including fighting and
weapons, coarse language are not permitted).
b. Be aware that for the entries the festival only accepts entries which comply with the OFLC
classification of a G-Rating.
5. No subliminal messaging is allowed throughout your movie.

Films will be viewed and assessed for suitability before being judged by our panel.
Finalists will be published ____________. Finalists will be required to attend the Red Carpet presentation of the
films on Wednesday 16/11/16 at Cumberland High School Hall.
