1. Design a cantilever retaining wall to retain an earth embankment of 4 m height above from
level. The density of the earth is 18 kN/m3, and its angle of repose is 30. The earth
embankment is horizontal at top. The safe bearing capacity of the soil is 200 kN/m2, and the
co- efficient of friction between the soil and concrete is 0.5. Adopt M20 grade concrete and
Fe 415 HYSD bars.

4. A counterforts retaining wall retains earth (with horizontal fill) to a height of 8m


from the top of the base slab. The counterforts are spaced at 3 m c/c. co efficient of
internal friction and density of earth retained are 30 and 18 kN/m3 respectively.
Design an interior panel of the stem between counterforts.The safe bearing capacity
of soil is taken as 200 kN/m2 and the coefficient of friction between soil and
concrete is 0.5. Assume the thickness of the counterforts = 300 mm.Adopt M20
grade concrete and Fe 415 HYSD bars.

12. Design an overhead flat bottomed R.C.C. cylindrical water tank tor 100 kl of water. The top
of the tank is covered with a dome. Height of staging = 12 m above ground level. Provide
2m depth of foundation. Intensity of wind pressure may be taken as 1.5 kN/m2. Safe bearing
capacity of soil at site is 100 KN/m2. Adopting M-20 grade concrete and Fe 415 grade tor
steel design the following: the columns are braced at 4 m intervals.

15. Analysis and design a RCC culvert for a national highway to suit following data carriage
way = 7.5 m wide, foot path = 1m on either side, clear span = 7m take loading IRC class AA
tracked vehicle. Sketch the details of reinforced in the longitudinal and cross section of the
