It was once stated in a simple poster that a UP Student is no litter bag.

A UP student
knows the difference between a simple trash can meant for throwing waste and a
simple table meant for studying. As a student, Being In this prestigious university
for the past 4 months has led me to the realization that this university not only
values academics, but it also values the environment as a whole. Seeing that people
around this university values our dear mother nature, it influenced me to become a
person who can truly be called as an isko that knows how to properly dispose his
trash. For the past months or so, the idea of what action the University of the
Philippines has against global warming has been boggling my mind. As a student
who is litter fee, I fully understood the deeper meaning of service in this university.
The Service of this university is not only given to its the students, but also to the
environment. Having been able to fathom this, I realized that indeed the UP system
especially the university of the Philippines contribute an important role in the
elaboration of this environment. So, what is global warming in the context of the
University of the Philippines and what are the actions taken by the people within
this system? Global warming In the entire duration of my stay here in the UPV, I
observed a variety of different actions done by the different odrgs and students in
this campus. To promote the awareness that global warming is widely recognized
these days, the university of the Phlippines Visayas first set action by allowing the
Organization called UPV Green thumbs to promote the planting of trees. It may
sound foolish but the little act of planting a simple seed may help a thousand of
lives to cultivate. That simple seed, though little, may grow into a huge tree worthy
enough to contribute to the welfare of this society. This act of planting and
promoting will surely go a long way in helping not only the environment, but also
the society to live a good and meaningful life. The university, as an environment
custodian, also helps the environment through the simple means of segregating
trash at its respective category. The university puts up different trash bins with
different categories for the different trashes. This set up, though it may seem simple
will surely be a step to further reduce the amount of trash inside the school
resulting to less pollution. Also, by putting different trash cans for segregation, it
would be easier for people who are pro-recyclists to easily find the trash that are
still worthy to be recycled. The different trashes that are found of worth may be sold
in different shops that accept things like plastic bottles in exchange for money.
Through this process, the university can not only help the environment, but also can
help the different peple who make trash as their living to gain a fair amount of
money. The posters that the university produce within this campus also may be of
big help in promoting an environment with less pollution. One major factor of why
global warming persists these days is because of the lack of awareness or
information brought to the different people within a community. Through the simple
spreading of these posters within the university, there would be a greater chance
for people to properly be aware of what the current situation of our world is. These
posters will be factors in making the people realize that the issue about global
warming isnt like a normal precaution sign posted in the different chemicals found
in the laboratory. These posters open the eyes of people in seeing the truth and the

truth itself. Through all of these actions brought by the University itself, it can be
said that the role of the university in promoting a cleaner environment with less
global warming is a game changer in the progression of the country and of the
school. With the acts of putting up an organization called green thumb to plant
trees, putting up different trash cans for segregation, and spreading posters to
make the people aware of whats going on, the university would indeed contribute
to the cultivation of its system and of the country.
