I am a bilingual physician specialized in cardiology that has ample
managerial experience at a Regional level in multinational pharmaceutical
companies in the medical, regulatory, clinical research and marketing areas. I
consider myself to be a strategic professional that has excellent interpersonal

Nov/01 to Nov/14
Andean Medical Director (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile) and Medical
Director Venezuela (Aug to Nov/14)
Responsibilities:
Lead the Medical Directors of the 5 countries. Provide support and scientific
guidance to the medical, regulatory, commercial and clinical research areas.
Develop and implement an integrated regional medical strategy that was
consistent with the development plans and life cycle management of the
products. Identify synergies and guarantee the proper allocation of resources.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
I led the adaptation of the defined strategies for the Medical Areas at a
Global and Regional level taking the particular characteristics of each
one of the countries under my responsibility into consideration,
optimizing the management of their resources, thereby obtaining an
adequate return on the investments made.

I provided innovative alternative solutions that allowed priority matters


for the Organization related with clinical research, registrations and
product availability in the market to advance.
I achieved the certification of 100% of the Regions Medical Directors in
the Global Mandatory Medical Area Procedures related with
compliance, which minimized the risk of fines due to the deviation of
procedures.

Responsibilities:
Lead the personnel in the medical area (11 direct reports and 1 indirect
report). Ensure the compliance of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Coordinate the medical scientific training of the commercial areas and
medical support for the product Marketing Authorizations. Approve the
scientific materials and activities. Prepare the local clinical research plan and
ensure its implementation.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
I was able to build a work team by filling the existing long term
vacancies and reassigning team functions which allowed a redistribution
of the operational burden in order to thus focus on strategic matters
that generated greater value for the Organization.
I defined the individual development plans; both the technical
competencies and the skills for all the personnel under my responsibility
thereby guaranteeing a level of training of the personnel which was in
line with the affiliate needs.
I led the updating and training of the medical area in Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPs), aligning it with the local and corporate
regulations. This by and large permitted a mitigation of risks and
potential violations. When deviations were discovered, I coordinated the
definition and execution of the corresponding Corrective and Preventive
Actions (CAPA).

Responsibilities:

Provide scientific support to the commercial, regulatory and clinical research


areas. Identify the appropriate regional and global opinion leaders for the
continued medical education activities. Organize regional consulting
committees and scientific events. Contribute to the development of
promotional materials and regional training and perform their final approval.
Review and provide a scientific and strategic concept for the local clinical
studies and support their respective publications. Contribute to the
development of specific products for Latin America.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
I organized various regional events regarding current cardiovascular
topics with the intervention of some of the most important international
experts in the matters addressed. This allowed an increase in the
number of guests coming from countries in the Region and a focus on
matters that were of particular interest for the Company.
I directly contributed in the identification of new cardiovascular products
that had a high probability of reaching the market, which allowed a
response to be supplied to the yet unsatisfied medical needs in the
Regions markets.
I defined and participated in the elaboration of the Protocol for the first
effectiveness and tolerability clinical study under conditions of use in
the real world which was performed in Latin America for a fixed
association of 2 antihypertension drugs developed by the Company. The
results were required to offer additional evidence regarding the product
advantages in the countries it was being commercialized in.

Responsibilities:
Provide updated scientific support to the commercial, regulatory and clinical
research areas. Be the final approver of the promotional, informative and
scientific materials. Coordinate the local Clinical Research and Regulatory
Affairs activities. Participate in the definition of the Continued Medical
Education events. Ensure the proper scientific training of the commercial
areas. Set the individual development plans of the personnel under my
responsibility.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
I implemented effective development plans for the competencies and
skills of the personnel under my responsibility that allowed the

Colombian affiliate to be one of the main sources for talent to occupy


higher positions at a local and regional level.
I developed the first training program for intern and resident physicians
in the Pharmaceutical Industry which has contributed to their acquiring
objective knowledge regarding this industry. Furthermore, the program
has served as a source of human capital trained to occupy positions
within the Company. The program was adopted and is currently being
implemented in other countries in the Region.
I managed to promote a marked growth in local Clinical Research,
increasing from very few to an important number of local early phase
registry studies and post commercialization studies. This has allowed
the contemplation of the establishment of an Andean Regional Clinical
Research Unit with Colombia as its base.
