Specialized faculty advising available for international students. Receive support with specific assignments,
hone advanced language or writing skills, and continue to learn strategies for quicker, more effective studying.

Discussion Group for International Students
This drop-in discussion group, facilitated by Counseling Services staff, provides a regular meeting place for
international students to share cultural, relational, career, educational, and financial concerns unique to you. It
allows international students to get input from counseling professionals who have been international students
themselves and peers about effective coping strategies to ease your transition in the U.S. and at DePauw. Snacks
will be provided. Look out for our bimonthly flyer!

Hands-On Academic Reading Clinic
Practice useful strategies for improving your reading fluency and comprehension. This is a follow-up to the Fall 2015
session on managing the academic reading load. Lunch provided.

International Alumni Talk Making it through H-1B Process and My Path to Engineering
Vigo Wei 12 visits campus to talk with current students about how he made decisions, overcame challenges and
made it through the H-1B process. Vigo completed the 3-2 Pre-engineering program at DePauw and
Washington University in St. Louis and now works for Rook Security in Indianapolis. Lunch provided.

Tax Workshops
All international students (degree-seeking and exchange) are required to complete and send tax forms to the
US Internal Revenue Service. Students can complete these forms during this series of tax workshops, hosted
by ISS. Watch email for time and date for your assigned tax workshop.

Questions about academic integrity and plagiarism but afraid to ask? This is a safe place to learn more and
practice how to use others information wisely. Lunch provided.

International Alumni Talk Finding your Career in the Humanities
Explore how international students can put their Humanities majors into Tamana Ogawa 10, a Conflict Studies
major, found her path to starting a community-based biofuel company in rural Japan and becoming an influential
consultant on environmental policy in Tokyo. Tamana shares her experiences and insights with all interested
DePauw students. Lunch provided.

Present Like a Pro: Skills for Effective Presentations


Learn the basics of effective presentations and get helpful tips on pronunciation, enunciation, intonation and

Christianity has a significant influence on culture in the US. Experience a Christian worship service and learn
about the church's historical connection with DePauw. Did you know Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at Gobin in
1960? Refreshments will be served.
