Thedecriptionofthelawofphicforpace-andtime-dependent
prolemareuuallexpreedintermofpartialdifferentialequation
(PD).Forthevatmajoritofgeometrieandprolem,theePDcannot
eolvedwithanalticalmethod.Intead,anapproximationofthe
equationcanecontructed,tpicallaedupondifferenttpeof
dicretization.TheedicretizationmethodapproximatethePDwith
numericalmodelequation,whichcaneolveduingnumericalmethod.
Theolutiontothenumericalmodelequationare,inturn,anapproximation
oftherealolutiontothePD.Thefiniteelementmethod(FM)iuedto
computeuchapproximation.
