A. Mathematics:
a. Analytical Geometry : Cartesian and polar coordinate; Straight line; Circle; Ellipse; Parabola;
Hyperbola; Translation & Rotation of axes.
b. Algebra : Complex number, De Moivers theorem, Solution of linear equations,
Determinants, Matrices, Summation of signal series, Addition of vectors, Scalar and Vector
products, Inequation, Sets and elements, Universal set, Empty set, Subsets, Venn diagram,
Union and intersection of sets, Complements, Algebra of sets, Finite sets, Class of sets,
Partitions, Cross product, Group, Ring and Field.
c. Calculus: Limit, Continuity, Differentiation; Maxima & minima; Taylor & Maclaruins Series:
Definite and indefinite integrals, First ana second order differential equation; Functions of
several variables; Partial differentiation.
d. Probability & Statistics : Permutation, Combination; Probability; Probability distribution;
Mean; Median; Mode; Standard Deviation; Correlation coefficient.
B. Aptitude Test:
a. Reasoning,
b. Problem Solving,
c. Quantitative Comparison,
d. Discrete Quantitative Analysis
e. Data interpretation.
RANKING METHODOLOGY & RULES FOR TIE-BREAKING:
The merit list for successful candidates will be prepared by listing them in the descending order of the
total marks scored by them. However, there may be ties and such ties will be broken by sequentially
applying the following set of rules:

ELIGIBILITY:
Nationality: The applicant must be a citizen of India.
Domicile:
Age:
Only those candidates will be treated as domicile of West Bengal who are either,
a) Residing in West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 (ten) years as on 31.12.2015.
OR
b) Whose parent(s) is/are permanent resident(s) of West Bengal having permanent address within
the State of West Bengal.
In case of a) above, the certificate is to be obtained in pro forma A-I or pro forma A-II. In case of b)
above, the certificate is to be obtained in pro forma B. Pro forma A-I and B are to be certified by
government officials as detailed below and pro forma A-II is to be certified by the head of the institution
wherefrom the candidate has passed/appeared 10+2 examination or has passed/appeared/will appear
in his/her last qualifying examination.
Competent authority to issue domicile certificate:
Pro forma A-I or B must be signed and certified by any of the following competent authorities from
Central Government or State Government having local jurisdiction over the place of the permanent
residence of the concerned candidate or his/her parents, as the case may be, viz.

District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Deputy Magistrate, Deputy Collector, Sub
Divisional Officer, Block Development Officer.

Judicial Magistrate of any rank or position in the concerned district or Metropolitan locality or
Honble High Court at Calcutta or Honble Supreme Court of India.

Assistant Secretary or above in the Secretariat to the Government of West Bengal (including GTA)
or Central Government.
VII.
Deputy Director or above in the Directorate to the Government of West Bengal or Central
Government.
Every official certifying the Domicile Status of the candidate or his/her parent MUST provide his/her
FULL NAME, DESIGNATION, PLACE OF POSTING WITH ADDRESS, LANDLINE/ MOBILE NUMBER. He/she
should also provide his/her IDENTITY CARD NUMBER if available.
CERTIFICATION FROM ANY AUTHORITY OTHER THAN THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN ENUMERATED ABOVE
WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Note: Domicile certificates issued by any elected peoples representative such as municipal
commissioner, councillor of Municipal Corporation/ Municipality, member of three-tier Panchayat
system or GTA, MLA or MP are not acceptable for WBJEEM-2016.
Pro forma A-II must be signed and certified by the Head of the Institution from which the candidate has
passed 10+2 examination or has passed/appeared/will appear in his/her last qualifying examination.
Such certificate must be issued after verification of the school/college education record of the
candidate.
Procedure for submission of domicile certificate:
The prescribed Pro forma is available in the portal. The pro forma as applicable to the candidate has to
be downloaded and two copies are to be printed on A4 size white paper.
Get both copies of the Certificate filled in properly and duly authenticated/signed by a competent
Authority as per the list provided above.
Upload a scanned copy of the filled-in and authenticated Domicile Certificate in document uploading
stage of online application.
The Duplicate Copy of the Certificate is to be retained with the Office of the Issuing Authority for future
reference/verification.
The candidate must retain the Original Certificate and shall have to produce it during counselling and
admission.
Note: Candidates claiming as domicile of West Bengal need to upload only any one of the three types
of certificates.
ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Various institutions that offer the three years MCA course in the State of West Bengal follows one of the
four following modules of eligibility criteria.
Module 1: Candidate must have passed 3-years Bachelor degree program from UGC recognized

University with at least 60% in Honours/Aggregate (45% for SC/ST candidates) or AICTE
recognized BCA from any University/Institute along with 60% marks (45% for SC/ST
candidates) in Mathematics at the Bachelors level.
Candidates have to also secure at least 60% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) in Secondary
and Higher Secondary or equivalent level from recognized Boards with at least 60% marks
(45% for SC/ST candidates) in Mathematics at each level.
Module 2: UGC and/or AICTE recognized (as the case may be) Bachelors degree of minimum 3-years
duration except BBA with Mathematics at 10+2 level or graduate level.
Obtained 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates) at graduation level.
Module 3: Graduate or equivalent degree under (10+2+3) pattern in any discipline of a UGC recognized
University/Institute or AICTE recognized B.E./B.Tech/BCA of a University/Institute.
Candidate must have Mathematics as one of the subjects at each level of education.
Candidates have to secure 60% marks (45% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates) at
each level education.
Module 4: B.Sc. Honours degree under (10+2+3) pattern in any discipline of a UGC recognized
University/Institute with at least 60% marks in Hons./Aggregate (45% marks for SC/ST/OBCA/OBC-B candidates) along with at least 55% marks in Mathematics. Candidate have to
secure at least 60% marks in Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent level from
recognized Boards with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at each level
Candidates holding the degree certificates from state universities where he/she studied through
off campus centre(s) outside the territorial jurisdiction of the state are not eligible for admission.

NUMBER OF SEATS:
Number of seats for the academic session 2016-17 will be as per confirmations to be received from the
institutes and will be intimated before counseling through this portal.
RESERVATION:
In respect of reservation of seats, applicable acts/rules of the Government of West Bengal prevailing at
the time of admission will be followed. List of such reserved seats will be available in this portal before
counselling.
As the reservation for PwD (persons with disability) candidates is on horizontal basis, the selected
candidates will be placed in general, SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B category to which he/she belongs.
Candidates seeking reserved seats need to upload SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD certificates issued by
competent authority during document uploading stage. Admit cards are issued on the basis of
uploaded certificates. But the certificates are checked/ verified during counseling. As such, just
uploading the certificate does not ensure a reserved seat. If during counseling the certificate is found
faulty (where decision of the counselor is final), the candidate can no more claim reservation.
SC/ ST certificate:
SC/ST certificates are to be issued by the any of the following authorities,
a) (i) Deputy Collector of Land Revenue, Kolkata ii) Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata
iii)Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata iv) Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata v)
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata vi) 1 st Class Stipendiary Magistrate vii) Executive

Magistrate viii) Sub-divisional Magistrate ix) Sub-divisional Officer x) Deputy Collector xi)
Additional District Magistrate xii) Collector and xiii) District Magistrate within their respective
local jurisdictions - In case the candidate ordinarily resides within such jurisdictions.
b) (i) Deputy Director, Backward Classes Welfare Directorate, W.B. (ii) Commissioner, Backward
classes welfare W.B. - In case the candidate ordinarily resides in any part of West Bengal.
THE CERTIFICATE UPLOADED AND SUBMITTED BY THE CANDIDATE FOR CLAIMING RESERVATION
UNDER SC/ST QUOTA MUST HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY THE COMPETENT AUTHORITY AS SPECIFIED ABOVE
ON A DATE PRIOR TO THE SUBMISSION OF THE ACTUAL ONLINE APPLICATION. CERTIFICATE ISSUED
ON A LATER DATE BY ANY AUTHORITY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION THROUGH
COUNSELLING.
OBC-A/ OBC-B Candidates
As per Notification no. 374(71)-TW/EC/MR-103/94 dated 27/7/1994, read with memorandum no. 1204SBCW/MR-67/10 dated 27/7/2015 issued by Backward Classes Welfare Department. Govt. of W.B., the
Sub Divisional Officer of a Sub-Division in a District is certificate issuing authority. In Kolkata such
certificate is issued by such an officer as the State Government by modification authorizes. Accordingly,
the District Welfare Officer, Kolkata and Ex-officio Joint Director, BCW has been notified to act as the
certificate issuing authority in respect of Kolkata covering the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Municipal
Corporation.
THE CERTIFICATE UPLOADED AND SUBMITTED BY THE CANDIDATE FOR CLAIMING RESERVATION
UNDER OBC-A/ OBC-B QUOTA MUST HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY THE COMPETENT AUTHORITY AS
SPECIFIED ABOVE, ON A DATE PRIOR TO THE SUBMISSION OF THE ACTUAL ONLINE APPLICATION.
CERTIFICATE ISSUED ON A LATER DATE BY ANY AUTHORITY, WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE TIME OF
ADMISSION THROUGH COUNSELLING.
PwD (Persons with Disabilities):
PwD certificates are to be issued by the any of the following authorities,
Officer-in-Charge or Medical Head of Primary Health Centres, Block Primary Health Centres, State
General Hospitals, Rural Hospitals, Sub-Divisional Hospitals or the District Hospitals run by the State
Government or any hospital run by a statutory body or authority.

correction. The given mobile number and e-mail id will be used for all further communication. At the
end of this step the candidate may opt to logout or continue to next step. For further log in, candidate
has to use his/her application number, date of birth and password.
Step 2: Application Form:
In this step the candidate has to enter his/her personal and academic information and also two choices
of examination centre. The fields mark with (*) are mandatory fields, i.e. mandatory to be filled in.
Step - 3: Image Upload
At this step the candidate has to upload scanned copies of his/her photograph, signature, LTI and Admit
Card / Mark sheet of 10th standard as age proof.

Low quality photographs, such as by mobile phones or self composed portraits may result in
rejection of application.
Background of the photograph must be of very light colour.
The face should occupy at least 50% area of the photograph with a full face view looking into the
camera directly.
Spectacles of dark or tinted glasses are not permitted.
Main feature of the face must not be covered by shadow, cloth or hair of the head. Forehead,
eyes, nose and chin must be clearly visible.
The photograph must match with the candidates appearance at the time of examination.
At the end of 3rd step an e-challan will be generated for payment.
Step - 4: Payment and Confirmation
Application Fee Details: The candidate will be directed to the page of fee payment and will have
following two options:
a) Payment by Debit/Credit card:
The candidate has to select Debit / Credit Card/Net Banking option to pay the fee of Rs. 600 + service
charges and follow the instruction to complete the payment process. After successful payment,
candidate will be able to print the Confirmation Page.
b) Payment by Allahabad Bank Challan:
The candidate has to select Offline payment mode to deposit the fee. As soon as he/she selects the
option, e- challan will be generated containing specific details of the candidate along with amount Rs.

600 + banks service charges to be paid. The candidate has to take a printout of the same and logout.
He/she has to take it to any branch of Allahabad Bank for making payment.
The Confirmation Page will be generated after successful updating of payment. The candidate can
take a print of the confirmation page and logout. Alternately he can save a PDF copy and logout and take
the print later. Also he can simply logout and login later to print the confirmation page.
ADMIT CARD:
Admit cards will be generated on the notified date for the student to download and take a print.
Candidate has to carry to the examination centre a printed hard copy of the admit card along with a
photograph identical with the one uploaded earlier.
Candidates must ensure that the admit card is not mutilated/ distorted/ soiled even by accident.
Candidates with such mutilated/ distorted/ soiled admit cards will not be allowed to appear in JECA2016.
Candidates are advised to retain their admit cards carefully in secured place in undamaged condition in
all respects till completion of admission procedure.
Zone of Examination:
The Examination will be held simultaneously at the zones Kolkata-North, Kolkata-South, Howrah,
Haldia, Burdwan, Durgapur and Murshidabad, provided there are sufficient candidates in each Zone. If
sufficient applicants are not available for a particular zone, nearby zone will be allotted to them.
RESULT:
Rules for scrutiny/review of Answer Sheet: The Board neither publishes nor communicates the result
to any individual applicant. It does not have any provision for post publication, scrutiny and/or review
arid hence will not entertain any such application after the examination.
Result: Result of JECA-2016 is likely to be declared tentatively on 27th July, 2016. The Board will publish
the merit list at its website, viz. www.wbjeeb.in. The total number of candidates to be merit listed will
be decided by appropriate authority.
Merit listed candidates will be allowed to download their Rank Cards from www.wbjeeb.in.
LEGAL JURISDICTION :
All disputes pertaining to the conduction of JECA-2016 shall fall within the jurisdiction of Kolkata only.
The Board will not be a party pertaining to any dispute arising in the process of admission to any course
of study through JECA-2016.
