Procedures:
Begin the class time by reading Lily Browns Paintings by Angela Johnson.
The story will be presented using the document camera, so the pictures
are enlarged on a screen. Discussing the illustrations as the story is read,
focusing on how the character uses her imagination to create her art.
And, her use of different colors and shapes.
Children will then be given paper, oil pastels, water color paints, brushes,
glue, and collage materials. They will be instructed to create whatever
they desire. Throughout this process, I will be conversing with children
about their piece and encouraging them to verbalize what they are
thinking and exposing them to different art terms. As I walk around, I will
ensure their artwork is labeled with their name.

Closure:
Once all artwork is completed and dry, it will be displayed and the
children will be given opportunity to view peers work and share their
thoughts on their creations with others.
Accommodations:
I will ensure any child with physical limitations will have necessary tools
and equipment in order to allow them to participate, such as a palm
weight.
Any child with learning disabilities will be allowed to work at own pace
and guided when necessary in order to help with ideas and relieve any
frustrations with the project.
Children who finish early will be given the opportunity to utilize drawing
applications on tablets or Chromebooks for exploration purposes.
