Lecture Notes
Lecture notes for the next three weeks to use as self-guide for class to stay on task and focused.
Tuesday 9th 2016 (5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.)

Pass out handouts, make sure everyone got one.


Introductory (who I am (education background, mother of 6, where I am from, why I
chose this field, what we will be going over the next few weeks, welcome all to the class,

any questions before starting?)


History (where Complementary and Alternative medicine started.. used handout as guide

look for highlighted parts on handout for focus topics


Discuss awareness such as Holistic doctors, Yoga Instructors, Reiki massage, items such
as lotions you can perchance, all natural products that you see more and more of,

Hospitals using Energy healing, meditation growing in awareness.


Handouts pointed to for other areas of interest that they can look into.
Open discussion... Do you practice CAM? What do you think of the findings we
discussed?

Do you support the awareness of use of CAM in the Hospitals? Do you use

any CAM practices you would like to share awareness of?

Welcome, please have a seat, Grab your handouts please. Make sure everyone has

handouts.
Positive and negative approaches to Complementary and alternative medicine (going over
handouts with the Power Point, follow highlighted guide on handout that goes with

PowerPoint.
Go over how to treat a person as a whole that is different from Western Medicine.
Open discussion on the topic Do you think that treating a person as a whole is healthier
than treating the symptom or specific issue? How does treating a person as a whole help
their overall health? Has anyone ever experienced being treated as a Whole and if so
how did that work? How important is knowledge of what you are doing?

Tuesday 23, 2016 (5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.)

Welcome, give handouts and gift for class (CD on guided mediations and self-

meditations)
Start Power Point and use guide from handout.
How CAM can be applied to life, work, health.
Discuss ways to apply what we learned to life, do you think that practitioners that use

CAM will have better understanding and coping skills for their patients? Why, Why Not?
Do you feel more aware of what complementary and alternative medicine is?
Discuss sites such as Udemy.com that offer teachings in topics of Complementary and

Alternative Medicine
Advise them to look over handouts for great tools on sites that they can use for self-

teachings.
Thank them for attending the class. Give contact information for yourself for questions

they may have after the class.


PROVIDE local resources for class on who locally they can contact for information in
Complementary and Alternative Medicine, such as the Uniontown Hospital, Herbal
stores, Practitioners in CAM.
