The government should do more to help drug addicts.
Drug addiction is a problem of todays society. You cant turn a blind eye to this
issue. Twitter, Facebook and all other kinds of social media is constantly
reminding us about this problem.
Research told us that 22% of the European people between 15 and 64 years old
have once tried cannabis .
5% have used cannabis in the past year and it is estimated that 1% of all
European adults are using cannabis daily.
A survey from 2011 told us that 2% of teenagers between 15 and 16 has a
increased chance of having a cannabis related problem. Students of higher
educations had in 2013 a higher percentage, 22% of them has one or more than
two symptoms of having a abusive use of drugs.
In Belgium at the year of 2010, it was estimated that 3.5% of Belgians between
15-64 years old had been injecting themselves with drugs, this percentage is
equivalent to 25 016 person.
Worldwide it is estimated that more than 158.8 millions of people are daily users
of marijuana. I wouldnt even dare imagining the percentage of all the people in
the world using another types of drugs.
There are five reasons of why drug users become addicted. The first one is the
family history of addiction. The second reason is abuse, neglect or other
traumatic childhood experience. Third reason is mental disorders such as
depression and anxiety, fourth one is the early use of drugs. The last reason is
the method of administration; smoking or injecting a drug may increase its
addictive potential.
The government should help drug addicts. There are four kinds of drug users, the
first one is people who occasionally uses drugs, people who has a lot of pain
because of a certain disease, drug addicts and drug dealers.
The people who deals drug are the kind of people who belongs in the prison, they
are criminals and they definitely need to be punished.
Drug addicts are people who shouldnt be punished. Because drug addiction is
something you cant cure in a blink of an eye. It is a disease that needs
attention, help, patience and a cure.
The government should build a few special rehabilitation centres where they help
addicts not only overcome their addiction, but also the kind of help to rebuild
their lives.
There are a lot of people who think that having an addiction is something very
easy to overcome.
But addiction is a serious matter, it is not simply a habit, it is a very difficult
disorder.
Drug addicts needs help. We need to have special rehabilitation centres to help
addicts to rebuild their lives. Prison is not THE solution, because an addiction is a
disease. So we need to help and cure them instead of punishing the addicts.
