Finding JSTOR

1. Go to Westerns Weldon library site (https://www.lib.uwo.ca/weldon/)

2. Select databases under the Research Tools tab, and click on JSTOR
o If you are accessing the database off-campus, a screen prompting you to input
your UWO username and password will appear.

Getting started
1. Enter your search term(s) into the search bar
a. Multiple search terms may be enclosed with parentheses
b. Use Boolean operators between terms with Add field
i. AND restricts results to ones that contain both search terms
ii. OR includes results that have either, or both, of the search terms
iii. NOT excludes results that include the following term
2. Select where you want the search term(s) to appear (ie. full-text, title, abstract etc.) from
the box to the right of the search bar
a. You may select which type of access
i. All Content: Everything on JSTOR
ii. Read and download: Content that can be downloaded or read online
iii. Read Online Only: Things that can only be read online (for people with a
MyJSTOR account or are part of Register and Read)
iv. Purchasable content: Content you can buy
v. JPASS subscription content: Content that can only be read or downloaded
with a JPASS
3. Click Search to run search
4. Click Modify Search to make changes to search

Additional Filters and Viewing Search Results

1. Narrow your results with the following tools
a. Item Type (i.e. articles, books etc.) limit search results to one or more types
b. Date Range limit results to a specific date range
c. Language select language of results
d. Publication Title or ISBN search in a specific publication
e. Discipline/Journal search in (a) specific discipline(s) or journal(s)

2. Click on desired search result to view

3. Preview article in Article tab
4. View Abstract and References under References tab

Beyond the Research Stage

3. Click Download PDF to save a pdf copy of the article
4. Click Add to my Lists to add to your own customizable online collection of material on
JSTOR
o If this is your first time using this feature, you will have to register
5. Click Cite this item for citations in MLA, APA, and Chicago
o Citation may also be exported
