I.

Purpose

This release applies to i-series and non i-series machines.

This release contains the same fix for the convenience authentication that is referred to as Patch 876840v5.dlm
as well as the follow on patch 905956v2.
After installation of this release, you may notice three new applications on the user interface. These are the new
embedded apps and App Gallery. If wish to hide or delete these apps, the instructions are located under App
Management in the General Information section of this release note.

General Information

Upgrading to an 073 release

The recommended method is to use the Automatic Upgrade tool, also known as Software Upgrade Utility.

Automatic Upgrade Utility Error Messages

A connection with the device has been lost. Restart the device and select continue. Check if PDL Switching is enabled on the Raw
TCP/IP port (port 9100). By default, PDL Switching is Disabled. To use the tool, disable PDL switching. After the upgrade, enable PDL
switching again. This will be fixed in a future SW Upgrade Tool version.
To disabled/enable PDL Switching: Go to the device web page, Properties>Connectivity>Setup>Raw TCP/IP
Printing>Select Edit. If PDL Switching is enabled, select the box to remove the check mark. Select Apply.
A message No supported device found using IP # or Hostname. Enter a valid IP address or hostname and try again. Check if the
device is using HTTPS. If it is, ensure you select the Enable HTTPS option on the software upgrade utility.
If you call support for an issue using the upgrade utility, ensure you provide the CKToolUpgradexxx.log file that coincides with the
issue. This log file is located in the folder where you launched the tool.
Manual Tool Upgrade
You must follow the instructions closely. Skipping steps and not using pre-upgrade patches in the correct order will result in lost
settings and you will need to reconfigure your machine manually.

ConnectKey Software Version Decoder Ring

The software version numbers have specific meaning. When comparing ConnectKey version numbers to determine older/newer
1) Ensure you only compare those that start with the same first three digits (073),
2) Then look at the last six digits only.
New General release: 073.xxx.075.34540 - 5= 2015. 345=day 345 of the year. 40 is respin 4.
New SPAR release: 073.xxx.066.08210 - 6=2016. 082=day 82 of the year. 10 is respin 1.

608210 is a higher number than 534540.
The fixes and features that will be in the 0735.34540 (general release) are also in 0736.08210 (SPAR Release)

If you wish to Hide or Delete these Apps, go to the follow location on the device web page:
- Hide the applications (WebUI Properties/Services/Display/Hide)
- Delete the applications (WebUI Properties/Services/Custome Services/Weblet Management/Delete)
NOTE: When using Manual Upgrade from any 071 or 072 software version will not install the Apps. You must use the App Gallery on
Xerox.com to install the apps.

Duplex Color Scanning Options
The duplex side scanner, on the WC7845/55 & WC7970 with single pass duplex scanners, may lead to inaccurate color detection at
low resolutions. If the user sets the resolution for a scan job to 300dpi or lower, we scan at 600x300dpi. If the user sets the resolution
to 400dpi or above, we scan at 600x600dpi.
What this setting does:
Depending on what this option is set to and the job settings, the system will scan at 600x600dpi for scan jobs that the user sets the
resolution to 300dpi or lower. This will allow for optimal color detection, but could negatively impact scanning performance.

Select fastest scanning speed means that the device will scan at 600x300 whenever the user selects 300dpi or lower
Select best auto-color detection accuracy means the device will scan at 600x600 whenever the user programs a job for
300dpi or lower with duplex scanning and auto-color selected, as well.
Select best auto-color detection accuracy and color image quality means the device will scan at 600x600 whenever the user
programs a job for 300dpi or lower with duplex scanning and auto-color or fill color selected, as well.

Default setting:
Select fastest scanning speed is the default
Why an SA would change this: If they use accounting and account for mono scans differently than color scans, they would want to
change this setting. However, we expect most users will not notice a change in system behavior if this setting is changed.
Note: The table below reflects the products the Field Escalation was submitted against. The fix may be applicable to other products as
well.

Starting with 072.200.134.32804 in Dec
2014, the device processes prints and
copies slower when an FDI unit is
connected. This change was made to
ensure customers that who used coin
operated vend stations could accurately
charge for pages that were printed if a job
was cancelled after submission. This is
known as Optimized for Chargeback.
Starting with version 072.200.165.14201,
the device will now default to the Optimize
for Speed mode. This will result in faster
print and copy speeds, but if a job is
cancelled after it is started the user will be
charged for the first 12 pages even if they
didnt print.
There is a hidden web page that will be
used to enable Optimize for Speed. To
Optimize for Chargeback, you will uncheck
the Enabled option.
