Two weeks later, the old gentleman sees the sheet as he passes by in the
train. It reads, `She is nearly well. Thank you.
2. The children tell mother what they have done.
3. Mother is angry because they should not tell people they are poor and
ask things from strangers.
4. She writes a letter to thank the old gentleman.
5. It is Bobbies birthday.
6. She is asked to go out because the family wants to give her a surprise.
7. When she returns, she sees a table with beautiful flowers, twelve
lighted candles and many nice presents.
8. She gets presents from her siblings, her mother and Mrs Viney.
9. Peter gives her his toy steam engine filled with sweets.
10. It is a lovely birthday.
11. But, later that night, Bobbie sees her mother sitting at the table.
12. She looks sad but she does not want Bobbie to know.
13. Bobbie goes to the railway with Peters broken steam engine.
14. She finds herself on a train which starts moving.
15. She cries and tells the fireman and the driver of the train that she
needs someone to mend Peters engine.
16. Bobbie stays on the train until it reaches Stackpoole Junction.
17. Then she is put on another train which sends her home.
18. Nobody knows where she has been.
19. Peter is very excited when he sees his engine, as good as new again.
20. Bobbie tells her siblings about her adventures on the steam train.
