Papua. Special Region of Yogyakarta, that this meeting is held has 5,088 ha of cocoa plantation.
Jogyakarta Governments take a very good attention to develope the integrate program between
replanting, quality improvement of the product and processing and expand market.

Few

smallscale chocolate industries developed and established in Yogyakarta such as Monggo

Chocolate, Ndalem Chocolate, and Tugu Chocolate, with various inovative and unique
products. Currently very popular and favorite of the traveller for souvenir.

Yogyakarta is the most popular travel destination of Indonesia besides Bali. Yogyakarta is well
known for its traditional arts, cultural heritage and student city. It has kingdom land from 18th
century or keraton, encompasses the still-inhabited Sultans Palace. There are so many travel
destination in Yogyakarta such as Merapi volcano, beaches, temples, Batik shop, etc.

Distinguished Delegates,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The ASEAN Cocoa Club (ACC) on ASEAN Cooperation and Joint Approaches in Agriculture
and Forest Products Promotion Scheme was signed by ASEAN Ministers 19 years ago. Since
then, it has conducted meetings, and this year Indonesia was appointed to host The 19th Meeting
of National Focal point Working Group on Coconut on Asean Cooperation in Agriculture and
Forest Products Promotion Scheme have also been implemented as a commitment.

Distinguished Delegates,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Here, I am very eager to hear the presentation from each member country that would provide a
good opportunity for us to learn and get better understanding on the present state of the area in the
production and productivity, export -import, cocoa cultivation and quality management as well as
cocoa research and development. I am also looking forward to see the progress made by this
cooperation on the various activities that would or has been identified and implemented. At this
moment I want to informed that yesterday The 8th Meeting of the ASEAN Cocoa Club Technical
Working Group on Food Safety (ACC TWGFS) and The 5th Meeting of the ASEAN Cocoa Club
Technical Working Group on Good Agriculture Practices (ACC TWGGAP) already conducted. I
am sure that through those Technical Working Group, we can get useful information to make it as
our reference to make a good strategy as well as to help improving the welfare of cocoa farmers.
Although we have very tight and serious activities during The 19th Asean Cocoa Club Meeting
today, if we can finish it earlier I think every one will agree because Yogyakarta has lots of very
interesting places to visit or batik shops that all ASEAN delegates and Indonesian guess may be
buy some souvenirs.

Distinguished Delegates,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
To conclude my remarks, I hope that this Meeting will come up with strategic recommendation
and updated action plan which give a significant contribution towards ASEAN cocoa industry.
Now I officially open this meeting.

Thank you.
Dedi Junaedi.
