About WAVES 2016


The Conference WAVES 2016 aims to bring together individuals and organizations having academic
interest in diverse areas of Indic/Vedic Studies. This includes independent scholars, academics, writers,
journalists, media persons, artists and others interested in Indic/Vedic Studies.
World Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES) & its affiliate Wider Association for Vedic Studies
(WAVES) are multidisciplinary academic societies that welcome people engaged or interested in
studying any field of Vedic/Indic studies. The word Vedic is used in a wide sense to include not only
the Vedas but also the past, present and future of traditions and societies based on Vedas. WAVES
conferences in the past nineteen years have always been a meeting point of leading scholars, researchers
and research / teaching institutions, deliberating on Vedic studies.
Previous conferences of World Association for Vedic Studies include the following: International

2014; Science and Spirituality in Vedic Traditions : Modern Context, Delhi, Nov. 27-29, 2015. These
India conferences included participants from all over the country such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka,
Delhi, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh etc and also from abroad.
WAVES 2016 will be at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India for four days (Dec 15-18,
2016). The deliberations in the conference will cover a wide array invited lectures and paper
presentation sessions around the various themes. Poster sessions, special sessions focused on Vedic
sciences and research, youth committee presentations, Hindu temples presentations, Digital technologies
for web representation and online education of Vedic studies, Audio-visual exhibits, Practical Vedic
religious performances and learning workshop, exhibits and book-shops are other interesting part of the
conference. Suggested topics can cover a wide area including: Insider / Outsider perspectives on Vedic
culture, origin of Vedic knowledge, changing paradigms on Vedic knowledge, etc.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS AND POSTERS


Papers on theme with specific topics of Science & Technology and Vedas or on any aspect of Indian studies may
be sent for presentation. Papers will include topics on Archaeology & Anthropology; History & Social Sciences;
Language, Literature & Linguistics; Upanishads; Smritis; Puranas; Epics Ramayana & Mahabharata, Gita;
Contemporary Works and Issues; DharmaShastras, Ethics & Rituals; Agriculture, Astronomy and Mathematics,
Plant Science & Ecology, Renewable Energy; Inter Religious Dialogue; Health, Yoga & Martial arts, Ayurveda
v/s Allopathy; Business, Economics & Administration, Education & Skill development, Water & Sanitation etc.
The proceedings will be published before the conference. Therefore, you are requested to send an electronic copy
of your complete paper by the due date or earlier. The presentations are encouraged to be in Power Point format.
Direct reading of papers is strongly discouraged.
Full papers should be uploaded to http://sanskrit.jnu.ac.in/conf/waves2016. WAVES 2016 invites young
scholars as well as others to submit a two page summary paper suitable for poster presentations during the
