TECHNICAL SKILLS
Object orientated programming: I have gained a good understanding of the principles and am competent
in Java through my studies and projects to design programmes.
Web applications and development: I have designed several websites and online applications, utilising
technologies such as MYSQL, PHP, XHTML, CSS, Javascript and XML during my degree studies.
Software design, development and testing: Many of my courses involved project work where I designed
and developed an application. This enhanced my skills and knowledge of the software design process,
including the various methods of design and testing available. During my industrial placement and summer
placement I gained confidence in; Java, SQL, ASP.Net, VBA and C.

FURTHER SKILLS
Communication: My industrial placement enhanced my experience of communicating complex ideas and
technologies to those with minimal technical knowledge. I have also written reports, both for my coursework
and on placement, and delivered presentations to staff and my peers.
Teamwork: The ability to work effectively as part of a team was enhanced in my role at Currys. This was
essential to ensure the smooth running of the store. This has further been enhanced through group
projects as part of my degree.
Business Awareness: During my industrial placement I saw at first hand the impact of technology on the
operation of a business, the effect it can have on employees and the business as a whole.
Organisation: Excellent organisation skills have been demonstrated through my involvement in a
