Joshua Kim, Senior Learning
Technologist and Adjunct
Professor at Dartmouth College
and an EDUCAUSE Center for
Applied Research Fellow, discussed
how the formerly separate domains of lecture capture
technologies and the emerging options for publicly
sharing lectures on Web 2.0 consumer platforms are
destined for convergenceand how this development will
raise important questions related to policy, control, and
governance.

The 2010 Horizon Report spotlights


six emerging technologies that
are likely to have a significant
impact on higher education in the
next one to five years, presenting
an overview accompanied by
examples and suggested readings for
each technology. The technologies in this years report are
mobile computing, open content, electronic books, simple
augmented reality, gesture-based computing, and visual
data analysis. The report, based on research by the New
Media Consortium (NMC), is a collaborative effort of the
NMC and the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative.
