Introduction
This booklet contains the performance objectives for the AA Plus Grandparent stock and is to
be used in conjunction with the AA Grandparent Stock Management Guide.

Poultry production is a global activity, but across the world there are differing management
strategies adapted to local conditions. The performance objectives given here are for birds
that receive the first light stimulation after 21 weeks (147 days +) of age.

Achieving the genetic potential of the birds depends on:

Management to provide birds with their required environment.

A dietary regime that provides the appropriate nutrients.

Effective biosecurity and disease control.

If any one of these elements is sub-optimal, performance will suffer. The three sectors environment, nutrition and health - are also interdependent; a problem in any one area will
result in a negative response by the bird to the other factors.

Data contained within this booklet indicates the performance that can be achieved under
good management and environmental conditions and should therefore be regarded as
Performance Objectives and not specifications.

In practice, variations in performance may occur for a variety of reasons. For example, feed
consumption can be significantly affected by feed form, energy level and environmental
temperature. While every attempt has been made to ensure the accuracy and relevance of
the information presented, Aviagen accepts no liability for the consequences of using this
information to manage Grandparent stock.

For further information on the management of Arbor Acres stock, please contact your local
Technical Service Manager or Technical Department.

The Arbor Acres Plus

The Arbor Acres Plus is available in two options, one which produces feathersexable broilers and one that produces all fast-feathering broilers.
The feather sexable option, The AA Plus S, produces fast-feathering female
broilers and slow-feathering male broilers. This allows broilers to be sexed in
the hatchery by evaluating relative feather development.
The fast-feathering option, The AA Plus FF, produces broilers that are all fastfeathering. They cannot be sexed in the hatchery by evaluating feather development because both males and females are genetically fast-feathering.
Grandparent females for both types are very similar. They should have the
same growth profile, and require the same feeding regimen and their egg
production should be the same.
It is important to manage the breeders so they do not come into production
too early. If they reach 5-10% production prior to 25 weeks of age early egg
size will be reduced, resulting in smaller chicks.
Daily egg production, feed clean-up and body weights should be evaluated
on a daily basis from 5% production through post peak production and feed
amounts adjusted appropriately.
The Arbor Acres Plus is a yield type broiler breeder that benefits greatly in
performance from the use of environmentally controlled housing (ventilation,
temperature and light).
This booklet should be used with the Arbor Acres Grandparent Stock Guide to
achieve the genetic potential of Arbor Acres breeding stock. For further information, please consult your local Technical Services Manager or contact the
Technical Services Department.

*Based on 2800 kcal ME/kg. Adjustments must be made to reflect feeding differing energy levels.
NOTES:
Feed amounts are given as a guide and must be adjusted based on the achievement of body-weight targets. Actual feed levels will depend
on the energy value of the individual rations.
Feed amounts should be increased or held, never reduced, to achieve body-weight targets up to 30 weeks.
In the table, values are rounded. This may result in small inaccuracies when using the objectives to calculate other performance statistics.

*Based on 2800 kcal ME/kg. Adjustments must be made to reflect feeding differing energy
levels.
NOTES:
Feed amounts are given as a guide and must be adjusted based on the achievement of bodyweight targets. Actual feed levels will depend on the energy value of the individual rations.
Feed amounts should be increased or held, never reduced, to achieve body-weight targets up
to 30 weeks.
In the table, values are rounded. This may result in small inaccuracies when using the
objectives to calculate other performance statistics.
