for Your SAP logon Shortcut

Content Disclaimer :- Warming The information provided in that blog is not in line with SAP Best practices and could lead to compliance
issues.
May be you all must be knowing it but i found it very useful ( since habbit of forgetting password
) so
thought of sharing this with you .So that you can quickly open and close sessions without wasting time in
manually typing password or selecting the environment.

Create a new SAP shortcut, for the system you want to logon.

As you can see above, By default SAP disabled the ability for users to save password. To enable it you need
to tweak your Windows Registry

You should probably talk to person in charge of network/corprorate security and ask them for help with this
action, or better yet if this is permitted. If you are working as a consultant/contractor then you need to ask your
customer if they allow this practice. My guess if you are working for or are an employee of any large-multinational corporation, your corporate security rules would prohibit this action.
Take care,
Stephen

I recommend you use SNC with an appropriate SNC library instead of storing passwords on workstation. This
is more secure and widely used by SAP customers. Users should not be encouraged to store passwords in
configuration files.

Errors and ambiguity in the article should be corrected:
1. HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > SAP > SAPShortcut (new key if not exist) > Security (new key if not
exist) > EnablePassword (new string value if not exist) > Value 1
2. Not EnablePassord

> EnablePassword

Anyway thanks a lot Praveen!

Article looks good for training or demo box only.
This can not applicable for production client (dev, qty and prd) as this is against sox compliance as per security
policy and cycle.

Hi Cyrus ,
As per above snapshot it is evident that you have created "Security" key under "SAP" ,Please create it under
"SAP Shortcut" and check !
Please revisit all the steps again and shut down sap logon .Re-open and check ,i don't think so you will still
face that issue .Please revert in case issue still persists.

Hi Praveen,
Nice to know this, I also feel it is useful some times but also it is natural that if we type the password as many
time as we can, we will remember it in-spite of saving the password.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks,

Actually it's not a pro/cons, instead this should never be done for any SAP system on a productive landscape
period and this would violate the security policy of most companies running SAP.
I have also seen this information posted before on SCN and I made those exact same comments.
Take care,
Stephen

SAP GUI: How to Save One time password for Your SAP logon Shortcut

Hi all.
A little bit easy: in the SAP GUI directory "...\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\", you can find an Application called
"sapshcut.exe".
This file add directly in the register the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER

> SOFTWARE > SAP >

SAPShortcut and then the key EnablePassord.

You need only to modify the value from 0 to 1.
Bye.
