ANSWER

1. What is 1Malaysia Outplacement Centre? Outplacement Centre is to act as a one-stop


centre for Malaysian retrenched workers.
The centre is primarily meant to assist
retrenched workers by up-skilling or
reskilling them with the required
competencies to enhance their
employability and assisting them to secure
employment either within the same or
different industries.
2. What is the purpose of this Centre?

Besides assisting retrenched workers by upskilling or re-skilling them with the required
competencies, the establishment of the
Centre is also seen as the way the
Government assist to reduce the burden of
retrenched workers in terms of providing
them with advisory support on career
counselling and planning, platform on job
applications and matching as well as to
prepare them for the next career.

3. What are the services offered in this


1Malaysia Outplacement Centre?

There are four (4) services offered in this


Centre, which are;
i.

Portal
The Outplacement Portal is an
informative portal that created to
help the retrenched workers to gain
information related to recent
retrenchment issues, training
opportunity and as platform to gain
employment. This portal is to make a
user friendly platform will be link to
any mobile application where
retrenched workers and public can
have full access of information and
plan for reemployment.

ii.

Counselling
Among the services to be rendered
by the Centre under this service is to
help individuals to search for
permanent employment, starting
with an employment action plan.
Based on interests and skills for the
future, the Centre will help define
career goals and assist job seekers in
making a plan to achieve them.

iii.

Training
The counsellor has play an important
role in identifying and arranging
relevant training for job seekers to
enable them to acquire additional
skills and qualifications needed by
the industry in order to enhance their
employability. Training will be
matched with skills gaps the common
demanded occupations and specific
job availability. Its aims to provide
tailored programmes that would
optimize employability of the
prospect.

iv.

Placement
The centre also acts as a platform for
mixing up the advertised jobs in
agencies / departments through the
Job Application Platform via the
Short Messaging System (SMS).
Through this platform, retrenched
workers can sign up and they will
receive information on job
opportunities advertised covers an
area designated by the applicant.

4. Who is eligible to apply?

Malaysian workers whom have been


retrenched by HRDF registered employers.

5. If I were terminated due to disciplinary


action, can I join this programme?

Employees who were terminated due to


disciplinary actions by their employers are
not qualified for the services rendered under

this initiative.
6. What are the documents that needed to
apply?

7. Do I need to apply for counselling or


training session?

There are no document needed when


registering to the portal, but there are 3
documents needed to apply when the
retrenched workers request for undergo the
counselling session.
i.

A copy of MyID card (Identity Card);

ii.

A copy of Retrenched Letter from


previous employer; and

iii.

A printed success form from the


registration in the portal

Not all retrenched workers are going to


apply counselling or training, there are few
criteria to be part of this session. The criteria
as follows:
i.

Counselling
If the retrenched workers who are
not able to find placement after 1
month of registration, they may
request for counselling service.
Request for counselling service is
available in the portal. For those
who have found placement using the
portal service provided does not have
to go through counselling and
training.

ii.

Training
If the counsellor found that the
applicants have the skills gap based
on the assessment given to them, the
counsellors will direct them to
participate for a specific training
based on their gap for placement.
However, the training is only
applicable for retrenched workers
whom previously employed by HRDF
registered employers.

8. How long the training duration and is


there any allowance to be given?

This training will be conducted by the


approved training providers about 3-6
months and monthly allowance of RM500
will be given to the retrenched workers
during the training period. As for programme
less than 1 month, monthly allowance will be
prorated based on total training day.

9. When the programme will be launched?

Expected to be launched by end of March


2016

10. If I were the retrenched worker, when


can I register myself to the portal to
obtain the services?

Retrenched workers may register to the

starting on 1st April 2016

11. Is there any charge for this service?

There are no charges for this service.
