For a very limited time, NREP is offering the Registered Environmental Manager (REM) workshop and exam
along with the Certified Safety, Environmental and Emergency Manager (CSEM) certification for $895.00.

This is a special opportunity to receive training for the REM plus the CSEM in a 2-day intensive workshop. You will
work hard in a limited amount of time to take a series of CSEM workshop quizzes and sit for the REM exam
besides. There will be homework the first night. We will load you down with a huge notebook as well as computer
disks and data sheets that you can use for years afterward.

With this combination of workshops, you can walk proudly knowing that you are certified in Environmental
Management, as well as Safety Management and Emergency Response Management.

REM Certification -- Registered Environmental Manager is the highest professional/ management


level of NREP registration. Printout and refer to the Candidate Information Handbook at
http://www.nrep.org/forms.htm for the latest and most complete information. Successfully passing a 150 question,
closed-book exam with a scaled score of 700 is mandatory. An REM candidate should possess the skills and
knowledge to coordinate and manage major environmental health and safety (EH&S) projects and programs.

Education: Bachelor's degree in an environmentally-related discipline. Recognized majors include the physical,
biological and health sciences; engineering and environmental majors. 3 years of acceptable work experience may
be substituted for each year of an academic degree program.

Work Experience: Five (5) years work directly related to environmental engineering, health, science or
management.

Exam Requirement: The REM Certification Exam can be administered by two methods: Paper and pencil or
by Computerized Exam: 2 hrs - 45 minutes timed, multiple-choice, closed-book exam. Candidates must pass the
REM examination with a scaled score of 700 or better. The REM exam may be proctored at the end of an NREP-
approved REM workshop or through ISO Quality Testing at one of their 350 test centers. To locate a test center, go

The CSEM Certification is granted upon successful completion of workshop participation, a series of written
quizzes, class activities and assignments.

7. Professional Practices and ethics

NREP application and exam fees are INCLUDED in the workshop fee. All individuals desiring to take an exam at a
workshop location should file an application with NREP at least 15 days prior to the exam and be Pre-approved take
the REM® exam. Exams are administered by special independent NREP Exam Committee proctors. Attendance
does not guarantee certification.

Value Package:
Workshop participants will receive up-to-date printed course workbooks, expanded course syllabus materials on
CD, as well as other related professional enhancement materials. Refreshments will be provided during the
morning and afternoon sessions.

Lodging and Local Transportation:

Course Facilitator and Instructors:


Don Shafer has over 30 year’s experience in Environmental, Health, Safety, and Emergency Management. He is the
Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Services located in Kansas City, MO the workshop
provider. Don is a published author and a faculty member in the Region 7, OSHA and EHS Training Institute
Consortium. He is a certified Master trainer experienced in industrial, corporate, and governmental environmental
health and safety management. He is an authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor, Master EHS and Emergency
Management Trainer, and active member of the Community and College Consortium of Health and Safety Trainers
(CCCHST)

CANCELLATION POLICY:
If you cannot attend, written notification must be received seven (7) days prior of selected workshop date at
nrep@nrep.org or no refund will be issued. You may send a substitute person. In the event that the program is
cancelled, neither NREP nor the instructor are responsible for nonrefundable travel or lodging deposits but will refund
the cost of the program. The National Registry of Environmental Professionals® is a legally recognized certification
organization. (ICAB® accredited).
