MONGOLIA

LAND OF CHINGGIS KHA AN

© Ron Wixman

A
DEAR ADVENTURER
This expedition is an epic journey through the “Land of Blue Sky;” a wide-open landscape where
wild horses thunder across grassy steppes, native people endure as nomadic herdsmen, and the
fossilized bones of dinosaurs await your discovery in hidden canyons.

Mongolia is one of the most exciting travel destinations I have ever visited. It is virtually
untouched and untamed, a place where time has seemingly stood still for hundreds of years.
Yet, this itinerary offers something for the entire spectrum of curious modern-day adventurers.
Ride horseback across rolling hills; hike to high camps in search of Siberian ibex and long-tailed
souslik; and fly-fish for trout in the famous Onon River. There is also the opportunity to wander
the Gobi Desert, which harbors a treasure-trove of dinosaur bones; watch captivating music and
dance performances by talented Mongolian entertainers; and visit local families in their gers to
learn about the traditions, customs, and the fragility of their nomadic lifestyles.

In addition to this expedition’s recreational pursuits and anthropological interests, we also

gain great historical perspective as we learn about the “emperor of emperors,” Chinggis Khaan.
Regarded by many as the founder of the Mongol nation, he remains one of history’s great military
geniuses and his legacy is brought to life with informative lectures and visits to local museums
throughout the journey.

We travel this untamed land by plane, jeep, bus, horseback, camelback, and even river-float to
ensure that each remote corner is experienced to the fullest extent. And, we are supported every
step of the way by a charming and capable team of local guides, drivers, and camp staff.

I promise you a journey of discovery and adventure to one of the last great unspoiled travel
destinations in the world. This is a land filled with haunting vistas, a place where sand dunes soar
into the sky, where camel trains shimmer in the desert air, and the place from which history’s
largest land empire was capably ruled. This is adventure travel at its finest.

Warmest regards,

Kim Jane Saunders
