Unaccepting societies

In The Giraffe by Mauro Senesi and in Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. the Giraffe and Harrison Bergeron establish that they do not
belong in society based on their actions. To start off with, both the giraffes and Harrison Bergerons actions leads them to not being accepted by society.
This is valid because one night in the winter when it was too cold for the giraffe to stay outside the boys made the giraffe stay inside the church overnight
but when the boys woke up the next morning the giraffe ate the flowers and candles. The mayor was so fed up with the giraffe that he said Well have to
kill the giraffe. In the same way, Harrison Bergeron was also not accepted by society because when Harrison Bergeron escapes from prison goes to the
studio and takes off his handicaps he mentions Let the first women who dares rises to her feet claim her mate and her throne! Harrison Bergeron did
this because he was sent to jail before because he was not accepted by society (Vonnegut Jr.). Both the Giraffe and Harrison Bergeron are not in the right
time period to be accepted by society. In Harrison Bergeron, it was fine when people had different strengths and weaknesses before the 211th 212th and
213th amendments, and now people who have an advantage and given handicaps to make them the same. In The Giraffe, the people in the town did not
know how to take care of an animal and the health care was not that advanced, reflecting that the town was not developed enough for it to take care of a
giraffe. This also shows why the Giraffe does not belong in the society based on the time period. Despite the Giraffe and Harrison Bergeron both not
fitting into society the giraffe is unaware of its actions were wrong based on the rules that were given by the society. However, Harrison Bergeron was
aware that his actions were wrong based on the rules that were given by the society. The Giraffe was unclear about the rules the society has given
because once the Giraffe ate the leaves off the trees in the park and a police officer came up to the boys and told them if you dont take [The Giraffe] it
away, Ill kill it with my revolver (Senesi). Unlike the giraffe, Harrison Bergeron was aware of the rules in his society. When Harrison Bergeron
invades the studio he yells let the first women who dares rise to her feet claim her mate and throne! (Vonnegut Jr.). These quotes reveal that the giraffe
attempts to do what it wanted to do which was to only eat and sleep; it did not know that it was disturbing the townspeople. The Giraffe saw nothing
wrong with the society; the only real issue the Giraffe faced was the cold weather along with the atmosphere much different from that of home for the
giraffe. Unlike the Giraffe Harrison Bergeron was well aware of what he was doing, he knew that when he escaped prison and invaded the studio that he
would be breaking the strict rules given by society. Harrison Bergeron wanted to change the society because he was fed up with how the society works.

He was tired of how everyone who had an advantage was given a handicap so Harrison Bergeron made an effort to change how society works by making
himself the emperor. To sum up in both stories Harrison Bergeron and the Giraffe are considered outcasts from society based on their actions towards the
society.
