Digital India

Digital India project was launched in July by Indian Prime Minister. The aim of this
scheme is to transform India into a digital economy by providing various internet
and computer based services to each and every corner of the country. It aims an
providing a paperless economy where services will be accessed by the people at the
click of a mouse.
Various steps will be taken by government in this direction. This includes connecting
all the 2,50,000 gram panchayats in the country through a high speed Digital
Highway named as Bharat Net.This will also be the worlds largest broadband
project for rural areas. Also, the Telecom Giant BSNL will install various wi-fi
hotspots in different parts of the country as a part of this scheme. Government has
already launched and e-locker system where people can store their documents
online which they can share as per their need. The other major services include esign services using AADHAAR, e-hospital for accessing and using healthcare
services.
Digital India Scheme also aims to promote innovation, research and product
development in the field of Electronics Industry. By this India aims to bring down to
zero its electronics import from the current $100 bn by 2020, which would other
-wise rise to double the present amount by the same time.
All this would lead to creation of large scale jobs meaning an increase in
employment opportunites for the countrymen giving boost to Indian GDP.
We all know that India has a lot of potential in it to excel in the field of Electronics &
Communication. Digital India Scheme provides India an excellent opportunity to
offer its citizens world class services with just a few clicks of mouse.Thus, the
Digital India mission will play a big hand in modernizing the country.
