From time to time, I come across discussions
about what to do with young people when it
comes to naturism? How do we keep it from
dying with older age groups that seem to be
most heavily involved? Is the end of naturism
upon us? What to do?
I have no magic answers for these big
questions, and I wont
speak on behalf of all
young people. I can
only say that these
discussions prompted
me to take some time
and reflect on my first year of clothes free life.
I fall on the younger side, female, black, etc. I
dont own a car or a home. Im still paying off
students loans and I work several jobs / gigs.
There isnt a landed physical resort nearby;
most are 45 hour drives away. In addition to
all these technical details is how I am feeling and where I am in my own clothes free
journey. To be honest, Im still not at a point
where I feel comfortable going to a social setting or event alone. I share these drops of
information not to complain or fuss, but to set
context for 3 points that came to mind as I sat
reflecting.

The first thing Id say is that peoples way of

sharing has made an impact for me. Phrases
like You should just get over yourself and do
this. You should just didnt land for me as
it felt like a faceless stranger shaking a finger
at me. Who knows what it takes for someone
to step into clothes free life? Could be easy
for some, could be challenging for others. But
what does speak deeply to me is when people say, What I found in my experience, what
worked for me, what I liked/enjoyed, I came
across this and wanted to share it with you for

tagged me to join a naked yoga challenge.

Ive read some comments stating that people come across naturism / clothes free life by
family or hearing about it in person. Indeed,
some do. And now, with social media and how
its doggone everywhere for everything, this
is an additional medium through which people

younger folks)
might hear about

for the first time.
So,
whenever
Ive talked with
people about my
struggles, then,
with
navigating social media to support
my clothes free journey, and was met with
responses like, Oh, you cant rely on social
media. The internet isnt the same. None of
this really represents what clothes free life is
about. You just have to do it in person, I didnt
really interpret support. Let me be clear that
I wholeheartedly agree with that perspective
(see my post about how it felt to finally step
out with my mom when she and I went to
Hippie Hollow.) In my personal experience,
that perspective is right on point, completely
accurate.

for criminal conviction. In Canada, nudity is considered
illegal under sections 174 and 173 of the Canadian

out. So, if I had an itch for it,

then make an adventure of it.
And if thats what I truly want,
it is my responsibility to make
it happen. Or create something
local. Maybe I need to ask a friend to go with
me. Whatever it is, its up to me to create my
clothes free life. Thats not to say that clubs or
organization dont have anything to consider
in terms of outreach, promotion, membership,
etc., but my emphasis in this particular piece
is on my responsibility to be in action.

Those discussions are important and require

wanted to focus on here, because I dont the
magic answer. For now, I have my personal tumbles and triumphs over the course of
this first year, the things I continue to work
through, the giant baby steps I take to create my clothes free experience. And I have to
say, I feel powerful and inspired everyday of
my clothes free life.

Another example: these days, I hunger for

clothes free time outside. OK, so I dont have
a living situation that allows that. But guess
what? I know everyones patterns and schedules at the office (that might sound creepy
oh well). So, I decided to create outdoor
clothes free moments for myself at the office
whenever I can. Maybe its 5 minutes, maybe
its an hour.
Maybe, after working another gig, I come
back to the office just before sunset, when I
know nobody is there, and sit out there and
feel my heart rate decrease and my jitters
dissipate as the healing breeze washes over
and through me. But it is up to me to create that. Thats what I felt comfortable with
yesterday, thats what I longed for, so I took
responsibility and created it (thus, all these
images). And it was AWESOME. Again, I have
no big answers for what us young folks need
for clothes free life or how to save naturism,
or what clubs and organizations need to be
doing.

Yield: 4 Servings
Ingredients:

For the sangria liquid:

1 cup red grapes

2 cups water

The juice of 1 orange

The juice of 1 lemon

3 cups sparkling mineral water

1 cup red wine

For the pulp:

1 apple with peel, chopped small
1 orange with peel, sliced thin
1 black plum with peel, sliced thin
lime with peel, sliced thin
cup strawberries, sliced thin
cup blueberries or blackberries

Method:
In a blender, combine all sangria liquid ingredients except the mineral water and wine. Combine fruit in a large pitcher and refrigerate
for at least 3 hours, overnight preferably, to allow flavors to combine.
Prior to serving, add sparkling water and wine and stir together.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup quinoa, rinsed

1 organic pear, sliced thin

1 cup organic spinach, washed

cup raw pecans

cup of berries of your choice (We used red currant)

1 cinnamon stick

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:

In medium saucepan, bring 1 cup of quinoa, cinnamon stick, and 2 cups of water
to a boil. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the quinoa tail is visible and
the water is absorbed. Let sit covered for 5 minutes and fluff with fork. In a glass
bowl, mix in quinoa, spinach, and pear slices. Serve and top with berries and pecans.

still just as ridiculous.

I do know the theme to which I want to adhere. Men - in all their diversity, complexity, and charm. I want
articles about the stuff we are all interested in. I want pictures of men as they are. I want to celebrate, once
again, the greatness that is man as other magazines do for women. Empowering features, entertainment options, and helpful educational articles will make or break the editorial watch list. My goal is to create a product
we want to read; as men, for men, by men.
For this vision to become a reality I plan to do my part in researching for things we can gain permission to reprint. This may take some time since I dont know anyone (not really) and - more importantly - nobody knows
me. Im just a upper Midwestern boy who relocated to sunnier climes of Florida. In the meantime, I will do my
best to reprint things obviously in the public domain or are of my own creation.
To really fatten the magazine with content, I call on all who stumble upon this edition to send me anything
youd like to see printed. Pictures, blog entries, stories youve written; anything at all will be considered. As
a community of readers we could create something really worth reading. As Nick had done in his project, we
also plan to recognize that men are sexual animals. Get your mind out of the gutter, boys! I dont mean were
going to create something pornographic or a collection of headless dirty-mirror-selfies or some kind of masturbatory aide. No, what I mean is that it is impossible to completely separate the sexuality from the man. No
matter the context or social situation a man finds himself in, there is always the recognition of his own sexual
identity. Happily married men, gay or straight or bi or trans or queer, all do a quick mental assessment of their

appearance before being noticed by the cute grocery clerk at check-out. All men concern themselves with
their penis size, sexual prowess, muscularity, and the rest of the endless list of appearance-related issues
we are aware of. Ive been told, even the muscular, handsome, big-dicked men who can go all night and day
have concerns about themselves, though I have no idea why.
So the most important paragraph in this rambling dissertation is this: We need YOU!!!!! We need to get your
pics of yourself doing whatever it is you do. We need your essays, resort reviews (hell, even restaurant reviews), tips and tricks youve learned, anything at all other people would like to see and read. We want pics
of you by yourself, with your partner (whatever gender that partner identifies), with your pets, showing off
your new stereo, anything. We want you to send us interviews of people youve spoken to, read about, or
saw printed in another publication. Most of all, we want your ideas. What should we include in this magazine? What should we avoid? Does anyone know anyone else who will add content in return for the publicity?
Anything at all, send it to us. We will have a submission page built and online - for reasons of legality this will
be the only way to submit so that no one comes back later and accuses us of over-editing or taking some
words/pics/ideas out of context. This is to protect us, obviously, but also so that we can have the freedom to
create an entertaining product. So, break open the pictures gallery, grab your camera, start typing, and send
us what you want our magazine to look like! For now, enjoy the paltry attempt Ive made at entertainment.
