THE TABERNACLE OF MAN

For years it was a mystery to me how Yehovah, who is holy, can reside His Spirit within one who
still possesses so many human, fleshy traits. How does His presence within our earthly bodies
coexist with the areas that we struggle within our own personality of character that have yet to be
conformed to Him? How does He do that? We all are so contaminated by the influences of this
physical world, no matter how hard we try not to be. We also know that we will not be rid of our
earthbound tendencies until being transformed into our spiritual realm bodies. This concept has
puzzled me. But through the years, the answer to this question has been given in little bits and
pieces and in the next few pages I will attempt to explain.
Adam was made in the image of Yehovah Elohim. According to Genesis 1:26 it reads, Then
Yehovah said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness The triune
Godhead consist of three in One: Father; Son; and Holy Spirit; and in our human beingness,
mankind also is made of three in one: body, soul, and spirit.
Our human body and soul have gateways; and the experiences of life, which enter into these
gateways will then factor in, to some degree, what type of human spirit a person will possess.
The human spirit then pours itself back out to reveal the true nature of ones personality. This
is where we will begin our focus. Let us take these areas one at a time; step by step, breaking
down each area as to their function and the role they then play into our spiritual lives.
Our physical body has five gateways which are sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. The
experiences we encounter enter into us through these gateways and teach us how to relate and
absorb the world around us. How we then perceived these individual experiences through our
physical gateways will then enter into one of the gateways of the soul.
Our soul is the psychological area of our being; it also is the area where all decisions are made
pertaining to our individual lives. It is here where we decide how to interpret the body gateways
of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. It is from the way we interpret the impressions received
from the physical body gateways that we then transfer these impressions into memory, reasoning,
affection, conscience, and imagination. It is also within the soul area of our beingness that we
decide our personal and individual spiritual decision concerning God.
Our spirit is our life-being; it is our breath; our existence; it is what exhibits who we truly are as a
person through our personality traits. From deep within each of us, our own personality exhibits
itself back out to the outside world through self-will, attitude, character, actions, and reactions.
The body, soul, and spirit connect each person ever born. Not one human being has ever been
born without possessing all three areas that make our human beingness. Pulling together what has
already been explained, we will now look at these areas together and how each relate to one
another.

What has been defined so far is what connects each and every human being ever born since the
beginning of mankind. It is what makes humans so special to Yehovah. We each have individual
character and freewill. Different from anything else He ever created. We have a choice to choose
to serve Him. But this still has not fully answered how He is able to coexist with us in our earthly
state of being that has not yet been totally transformed into a creature without a sinful nature.
This is how I have come to understand this mystery. At some point in ones life a spiritual
decision has got to be made. Let us say an individual has made the decision to accept the blood
which was shed on our behalf by Messiah, the Son of Yehovah. With that in consideration, we
are now able to look at our human tabernacle with the use of scriptures from Gods Word.
John 14:16-18, 20-21 (Yeshua speaking)
16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide
with you forever -- 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it
neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be
in you." ... 20 "At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in
you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he
who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to
him."
Within my body, and yours, dwells a secret compartment that only the Holy Spirit can enter.
Consider this chamber, within our beings, as the Holy of Holies that is patterned after the true
Holy of Holies in Heaven, which is the Throne of Yehovah. Consider this verse:
1 Cor 3:16
16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in
you?
This chamber cannot be seen by the human eye; nor, can it be detected medically. In fact, a
person who has not yet made their own spiritual decision is totally unaware that this chamber
within their selves even exist. Oh, but it does! It is waiting for the occupancy of the Holy Spirit.

We read:
1 John 4:13
13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His
Spirit.
Eph 2:18
18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
Heb 9:24
24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the
true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.
This is where it gets interesting. There are no passageways or gateways leading into the special
compartment place where He resides; it is how He tabernacles within us; it is the Holy of Holies
within a Spirit-filled person. Therefore, we are unable to contaminate, or penetrate His enclosure,
with our human, fleshy ways; yet, we always have total access to communicate with Him and He
with us. And from His place where He tabernacles within us, He is able to radiate Himself out
into every gateway we possess through our body, our soul, and our spirit. Which now adds the
final dimension of those who are not only human, but are also Spirit-filled human beings.
The area where the Spirit dwells, possesses and exhibits these characteristics: faith, hope,
reverence, prayer, and worship. As He teaches these characteristics to us, we then are able to
present these qualities to the outside world through our interaction with them. Our personality
traits now witness to the world around us the quality of the One who resides in us.
Take another look at the chart of the areas of our body, soul, and spirit and how each relate to our
own human beingness; adding on the final dimension of a Spirit-filled human being.

The more we allow the Holy Spirit to have control over us, the larger His compartment grows.
We must decrease, so He can increase. The more He increases, the more we will glow His

radiance to the outside world. So the scriptures pertaining to the renewing of our lives mean so
much more when taking this teaching for all that it has had to offer. Read, with new
understanding:
2 Cor 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away;
behold, all things have become new.
Rom 12:2
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
There is one last area to cover. The compartment where the Holy Spirit dwells within a Spiritfilled human being is pointing to the Holy of Holies in Heaven, which is Yehovahs Throne. So
how do the remaining areas of the Tabernacle align in our lives as Spirit-filled human beings?

We now possess a body that can now be trained to see with spiritual eyes and ears; to spiritually
taste and take in the aroma of His Word daily; to feel the touch of His presence within us. These
gateways will lead into our spiritual soul of memory, reasoning, affection, conscience, and
imagination. Within our human spirit, as He increases, our will becomes His will; our
attitudes will possess Godly thoughts; our character will become transformed to His
character; our actions and reactions will be planned out by Him. Our lives, being Spirit-filled
human beings will radiate to the outside world faith, hope, reverence, prayerfulness, and
worship to our Creator.
1 Thess 5:23
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole
spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
