Assessments
o Progress Reports
These reports are completed by the teachers and given to families twice
throughout the school year. The teachers assess the childrens progress during
the school year based on Goddards Early Learning Standards and those specific
to their state. The children are assessed based on a predetermined scale (Aalways, S-sometimes, N-never) as well as an area that provides teachers the
opportunity to write a narrative about each individual child.

o Progress Report Inserts

The Insert is a supplemental tool that is used with Progress Reports. Teachers can
use the Insert to address individual childrens developmental needs by adding
appropriate goals.
Use this document:
To determine developmental goals that children will work on
when moving to another classroom,
To ensure smooth transitions,
Together with Progress Reports to create a complete record of
the learning environment/experience, and
To address individual needs of the children who are mastering
skills on their level.

Curriculum Materials
o F.L.EX. Curricular Guides
The Curricular Guides are resources that provide teachers information to use as
they create classroom lesson plans, establish learning environments, set up their
learning centers and conduct activities in the classroom. In using these guides,

the teacher will become confident that learning is happing in the classroom
throughout the day by incorporating the various resources, materials, and
strategies that are developmentally appropriate. Schools are able to use these
guides when having conversations with parents about Goddards philosophy, the
F.L.EX Curriculum, and how developmentally appropriate activities and interest
centers are integrated into the classroom learning environment.
o

Continuum
The Continuum provides developmental goals for children six weeks old through
Kindergarten. Whether you or the child is new to the classroom, this resource
will help familiarize you with goals that have been addressed in previous
classrooms and those that need to be addressed in the current classroom. Whereas
these goals address all of the learning domains, Infants-First Steps may/may not
choose to use the additional domains that do not align with their Progress Reports
or Lesson Plans. The domains are not to be added to your daily activities, but the
goals may be incorporated through other learning domains already used on a
daily basis.
Use this document:
To determine the role each class will play in teaching its part of
the Developmental Goal,
To add goals to lesson plans or progress reports, as needed, and
To see what skills the children have worked on in the previous
classrooms and what they will work on in future classrooms.

Early Learning Standards Alignment Charts

These charts have been created specifically to align the standards used at
Goddard Schools with those that are used in the state of Florida. They include
Goddard Systems, Inc. Infant-Toddler learning standards as well as the Preschool
learning standards.

Curricular Grid
The Classroom Grid will provide teachers with an opportunity to plan both long
term and short term goals for the children in their classroom. The teachers are
able to see the goals for the children and the monthly themes which will be used
throughout the school year. This resource is a working document and teachers are
encouraged to review the Classroom Grid often to determine if changes need to
be made to the schedule.
Use this document:
When writing lessons and determining when to introduce,
reinforce and review for mastering certain skills/goals;
When doing long-term planning for the school year; and
Periodically, to adjust developmental goals to meet the needs of
the individual child as shown during observation or assessments.

Sample Daily Schedules

Faculty members create classroom schedules that allow extended periods of child
centered activities balanced with appropriate guided games, songs and stories to
provide a complete and satisfying experience to each child. The Education
Director and faculty work together to ensure each schedule works for the entire
school.

Lesson Plans
Teachers will use these lesson plan templates to write lessons that are individual
to their classroom and age group. Lesson Plans are simply an outline of the
learning that is going to happen, providing teachers with the freedom to make
changes, as needed, in order to accommodate childrens interests. Schools are
encourages to incorporate their state early learning standards as they apply.

Daily Activity Reports

The Daily Activity Reports are a key point of communication between the
teachers and parents. The teachers complete the Daily Activity Reports so that
families can see what their child has done throughout the day. The Daily
Activity Reports reflect individual childrens learning, participation, and daily
needs (eating, sleeping, diapering/potty training).
