Include the names of the three confidential referees: the convenor of a simulation instructor
course that the applicant attended, the head of the department in which the applicant works, and
EMAC supervisor.
Attend and instruct on at least two complete EMAC courses within a one-year period following
completion of an approved instructors course, and gained a satisfactory evaluation from the EMAC
course convenor .
Have a thorough knowledge of the EMAC course content, aims and learning objectives for each
module.
Have sufficient content knowledge and skill to facilitate educational activities including
debriefing, teaching a skill, running a problem based learning discussion session.
FANZCA or other qualification acceptable to ANZCA Council but without the need to have been
practicing independent anaesthesia within the past five years or;
Non-FANZCA, which may include those with PhD, or a specialist qualification in another
medical specialty.

Accreditation of centres
ANZCA accredits simulation centres across Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia, to offer the
EMAC course to ANZCA trainees. Accreditation requires an onsite review by the College to assess a
centres ability to offer EMAC in accordance with ANZCA standards. Centres applying for accreditation
should contact emac@anzca.edu.au
