This photo design shows basic photo

editing skills that I have learned. I have applied
a basic analogous color scheme to the photo
based on the project requirements. I made this
using basic skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The message is pointed towards students
in the humanities department at Arkansas State
University. Going to the event will help students
understand more of the history of the surrounding area, and will expose them to a culture that
they might be less familiar with. In creating this
design I learned that the selective color tool can
be an very effective tool to use in place of the
hue and saturation tool.

Photo Design

This is part of a stationery project Ive done for

the Mount Media Group. I made these business
cards using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I
was really able to learn about the Adobe suite as
a whole. Adobe programs are meant to be used in
tandem with each other. While one
program may be terrible at a certain task another
program may be very efficient at it. The
message that I am trying to send with these business cards is that Mount Media Group are professionals. Despite the stereotypes that go along
with graphic designers and artists as a whole we
are friendly and willing to put forth our best effort
to assist our customers. Specifically, the design
of these business cards is targeted towards businessmen and women, particularly small business
owners.

Business Cards

For this portion of the stationery project Ive

created a letterhead with a slight watermark of
the company logo in the background. Just like the
business cards I made the letterhead using the
Adobe creative suite, specifically Adobe
Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. This project
gave me the opportunity to strengthen my
experience with Adobe Illustrator. The purpose
of this piece is to help convey the message that
Mount Media is a group of professionals who
want to help the clients they work with and have
the clients best interests in mind. Naturally, the
targeted audience for this are the clients that
Mount Media works with on a regualr basis.

Stationery

I am constantly learning about new photographic

techniques that I can use in my work. These are a few
photos that I have taken recently that I am proud of.

Couples portrait:

For this photo I took some friends outside to a park. Then

I adjusted the shutter speed on my camera to account
for the lighting outside. This allowed me to take a photo
in a very bright space without it become overly faded or
washed out.

Architectural focus:

In this photo I adjusted my focus and zoom to allow me to

get a clear photo of the spire on the chapel. This
adjustment, coupled with some color enhancement allowed the sky to come across much clearer. I then added
some vibrance to the entire photo to make it look more
realistic and more professional.

Photography

This is a photo montage I put together from my visual

imaging course. The challenge was to create something
spiritual in nature and I couldnt think of anything with
more spiritual influence than our families. The quote
from the bible is meant to help parents recognize that
influence they have with their children and how they can
use it to teach their children. I first found a scripture that
I thought would be effective in a photo montage. From
there I tried to find photos that could convey a message
talking about how we teach our children to be happy.
Then I took those images and performed a few basic edits on them. These edits include altering the levels, the
vibrance, and enhancing a few specific colors. From there
it was a simply task of masking the photo on the top layer
to appear as if it were naturally part of the photo in the
background. You do not need to tear your children down
to be a good parent. A good parent builds their children
up. Even though it is time consuming it is important to
take your time when altering the black and white levels. If
you are trying to make a smooth transition from an original piece of work to an additional piece you want to make
the two look as similar as possible.
Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: Deepening the blue of the Dads shirt and adding vibrancy to
the entire piece.

This is a website that I created in order to explain

the process of making the Mount Media logo.
I started by making the html document that includes all of the text and the logo. I discussed the
process that I went through in creating the Mount
Media logo. I talked about the reasons why I center aligned the text in the logo and why I chose an
analgous color scheme. Then I moved into the CSS
style sheet and began to create a working design
for the website. In doing so, I decided to continue
the centering motif from the logo into the design of
the website. I have a basic understanding of HTML
and CSS while also being able to use programs in
the Adobe CC suite. The purpose of this website
is to demonstrate my profieciency with HTML and
CSS to potential employers. Ive learned that HTML
and CSS documents can be very powerful tools if
they are understood.

Web Page Design

This is a flier for a graduate leadership conference. For this design I used Adobe InDesign
to create the actual layout and Adobe Photoshop to edit the Vouant logo. The asymmetry
of the design helps keep the viewers attention while keeping the design as a whole very
simple. Vouant Communications is having an
event for graduating seniors that are professional and looking for post-graduate employment. This flier is pointed towards graduating
seniors (Generally mid-20s to early 30s). The
top thing that I learned is that having multiple
rough drafts is very beneficial in creating effective and diverse designs.

Flier

An event advertisement for a local event created using only Microsoft Word. This event ad is
meant to draw people to come help children by
buying flowers. This is pointed mostly towards
parents of all ages. I learned that using Microsoft word is very comparable to using Adobe
InDesign. This enables people without access
to adobe suite to create comparable designs.

This is a brochure for an investment

opportunity. The company that this brochure
is for is called Direct Energy. This brochure is
part of an attempt for Direct Energy to move
more into the world of consumer retail. I began
by making a general layout design on paper
so I could understand exactly where the folds
would be and how to format accordingly. Then
I moved that layout into Adobe InDesign. After
I placed the text in the layout I began adding in
images to help emphasis the importance of
solar energy. These included two different
styles of clouds, a sun, and a solar panel.
The brochures purpose is two-fold. 1.) To
increase awareness of the demand for solar
energy and how Direct Energy can fill that
supply. 2.) Inform potential investors of the
perks they would get if they chose to invest in
Direct Energy. When trying to understand how a
brochure will fold it is easier to test the design
on another sheet of paper than to try to guess.
