Program(s)/Tools: Camera, Adobe Photoshop

Objective: Learn Basic photography and lighting skills.

Download the image. Crop and resize image. Use filters, and desaturate select portions. Add text and create a color scheme.

Process: I took this picture on my camera. I then brought

it into Photoshop and brought out the purple in the flowers. I

then desaturated the bottle to have it fit with the rest of the color
scheme. To finish it off I added the text and a small design.

Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 - Ben

Objective: Learn to blend 2 or more images together using

masks. Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout

with multiple elements. Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of
the image. Apply typography principles. Format type, and select
good, quality images.

Process: I started by placing the image of the tree as the

background. I then used the lasso tool to cut out an image of the
Savior. I placed the image on top of my background and blended
it into the first image. I then put a textured image on top of
everything and used masking techniques to blend it all together.
I changed the colors and brought the pinks in the image. I then
added the text to finish everything off and added a back shadow
to the text.

Objective: Apply the design principles and use

appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to

improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image and logo from links on
this page. Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign
document to keep links in InDesign intact.

Process: I started by creating a sketch of my design. I

then used that sketch to start my flier in Adobe Indesign. I used

the triangles for repetition, and the diagonal lines to bring it all
together. I kept my body copy small and tried to leave negative
space so that it would not be crowded.

Process: This logo took a lot of time. I started by creating

a circle. I then created the inside circles to create the look of the
film. I then used the curvature tool to create the film coming out

created the sword using the rectangle tool and the curvature tool.
To finish it off, I added the text and completed the color scheme.

Process: I started by creating my logo in Illustrator.

Transfering over to Indesign I used the rectangle tool to create the

template for my design. I created a double sided business card
and tried to create as much repetition using color and lines as
possible. I also made sure that was negative space surrounding
my personal information.

Once I had it converted to a JPEG I added it to my document and

resized it. I then looked at the color scheme and design elements
that I could add. I added the boxes on top and bottom to create
repetition, and added the black background to create negative
space. I finished off the ad by adding the information regarding
the event.

Web Page
Description: A webpage designed to show a personally
designed logo.

Date: 6/25/2016
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 02 - Ben
Pingel

Program(s)/Tools: TextWrangler, Adobe Photoshop

Objectives: Size and optimize an original logo as a .png

for a web page so the long side is 300 500 pixels. Write content
to describe the process of creating your logo and how it appeals
to a target audience. Acquire a working knowledge of HTML and
a basic understanding of CSS. Identify hex colors to match logo,
using Photoshop color picker.

Process: I created this webpage using TextWrangler. After

inserting my image I attached a pre-made CSS document to

my HTML. I then pulled colors, designs, and font styles from
Photoshop to create uniformity and gestalt. I also used padding
and indentation which proved to be difficult to get it the way that
I wanted. I learned a lot in the project.
