Web Page
Description: I created this web page to
showcase this logo I made. I wanted it to repeat
the elements found on my stationery.
Process: I created the logo and red header in Adobe
illustrator. In Text Wrangler I made an HTML document
and entered all the information. I separated the
information into their corresponding categories. such as
html, head, body, main, paragraphs, and unorganized
lists. Then I created a CSS document and added color,
width, height, margins, and padding to the elements.
Objective: I want my audience to know that Clark
Communication can help companies in all aspects of
professional communication, including web design.

Stationery
Description:For this project we created stationery
for a company. There are a lot of unique challenges
with designing stationery because your design has
to be strong and professional, but not get in the way
of the actual purpose of the card and letterhead.
Process: For this project I designed most of the elements
in Adobe Illustrator, but I also used Adobe InDesign to
save the large version of the business card. I used the
ellipse tool to create the curves on the top of both the
business card and the letterhead. The entire design is
based on this shape which pulls the separate elements
together and giving the project a nice feel of gestalt.
Objective: Clark Communication is a professional company
that can help you communicate more efficiently.

Logo
Description: I created a logo for Clark Communication.
I wanted a logo that would instantly communicate
its message, while at the same time being unique
enough that people could identify it easily.
Process: For this design I used Adobe Illustrator. I
learned about a lot of tools and built many skills. Some
of the key tools I used were the ellipse tool, the shape
builder tool, and the touch type tool. I had to learn
how to create and manipulate shapes to interact. The
text I left pretty simple. The only text I manipulated
was the A. I wanted it to stand out in both size and
color. I used the touch type tool to maintain the width
of the A while a bumping up the font a few points.
Objective: Prove that Clark Communication is bold and
powerful in communication and the right choice for you.

Brochure
Description: This is a gate-fold brochure for the Grand
Opening of the Sacramento Nature Conservation Center.

Process: For this project I used a plethora of adobe

programs. Okay, I really just used Illustrator, Photoshop
and InDesign. In Illustrator I created the logo. The most
complicated part of the logo was designing the leaf. I found
an image of a Chinese Tallow leaf online and used the pen
tool to create the outline. I used a brush tool to get the
shape of the veins, the converted them to a shape, combined
it with the leaf shape created by the pen tool and voil, you
get a lovely leaf. I used Photoshop primarily for adjusting
the images. I also used it to refine the edges of the gate.
InDesign was where I designed the
layout for the brochure.

Objective: Inform people about the SNCC.

Montage
Description: This week we worked on a montage
project. For this project I came up with about 5
messages that I could have used. I asked a few members
from my target audience which of the messages was
most powerful and this is the one they chose.
Process: I designed this in Adobe Photoshop. I used
a lot of layers to organize the images, and then added
masks to each and blended them with the brush tool.
I wanted more contrast between my main image and
the background image so I lowered the opacity of all
but one to 50%. In the end my main image's eyes were
too dark. I lightened them using the dodge tool.
Objective: Encourage my audience to listen more.

Photo Design
Description: Create, edit and design my own
photo to send a simple and elegant message.
Process: This design was done completely in Adobe
Photo Shop. I created the lines with a simple shape tool.
At the bottom I added a slight gradient just to keep the
message clear. Without the gradient the lighter colored
text blended in too much with the photo. There are a
lot of FOCUS principles at work in this design. Some of
my favorites are the amount of white space, the rhythm
of the keys and the contrast between the keys.
Objective: I wanted people to realize the influence,
the power, music can have in their lives.

Event Ad
Description: This is an event ad I created
for a hypothetical seminar.
Process: This design was created in Microsoft word 2011.
I uploaded the image from a book using a professional
scanner. I organized the design so that the white-space
had access to the outside of the design. I contrasted
the elements by repeating the triangles and the colors.
There is also contrast in the size and weight of fonts.
Message: Raise funds for a hospital by hosting a
seminar that furthers sociological awareness.

Flier
Description: This is a flier I made for the Vouant
Communication Graduate Leadership Conference.
Process: I created the flier in Adobe InDesign. I used
repetition of right angled shapes to pull the whole
project together as well as lead the audience through
the flier. With a black and white flier contrast is also
very important. I chose a high contrast layout because
it invokes passion and action. I chose the picture I
did because I wanted it to reach a broad audience.
Objective:Get my audience to come to Vouant
Communication's seminar for graduating college students.
