INSTRUCTION TO CANDIDATES SELECTED FOR ADMISSION TO

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, KHARAGPUR


1. General :
You are required to report at the Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya Hall of Residence (for Boys) / Sarojini
Naidu Hall of Residence (for Girls) on July 22, 2007,
Please note that fees to be paid at the time of joining the Institute on the day of Registratrion, i.e. July 23,
2007, are stated below.
If you are unable to report on July 23, 2007 for registration on medical grounds, you must send an
application for the late arrival to the Dean, Under Graduate Studies, Indian Institute of Technology,
Kharagpur 721 302, duly countersigned by your father/guardian along with a certificate from a
registered medical practitioner. If you do not report to the Institute on or before July 26, 2007, i.e., the
date of late registration, this offer of admission will stand cancelled.

2. Institute Transport:
Institute transport will be available between 7.00 hrs. and 20.00 hrs. on July 22, 2007 at the Kharagpur
Railway Station for receiving newly admitted students. Each student is required to put a label on each
item on his/her baggage indicating his/her name. Students will be taken to respective halls of residence
and provided an accommodation on production of the admission Offer Letter.
Guardians/parents accompanying the students are advised to return on the same day because overnight
accommodation in the Guest House is extremely limited. If it becomes essential for parents to stay
overnight, they may have to stay in the common hall of the hostels.

3. Registration:
Registration for Autumn Semester (First year classes) July 23, 2007 (exact place will be informed upon
your arrival here).

4. Fees:
The fees payable at the time of registration of earlier are as follows :

An amount of Rs.14,700/- (Rs.7,800/- for SC/ST) from out of the amount of Rs.15,000/- (Rs.8,000.00 for SC/ST)
paid at the time of counselling is adjustable against the total payable fees of Rs.32,025/- (Rs.18,525/- for SC/ST).
(Net amount payable Rs.17,325/- for GE and Rs.10,725/- for SC/ST).
The fees will have to be deposited with the State Bank of India, Kharagpur (0202) at IIT Kharagpur branch as per
the deposit slip enclosed either by cash or by a single Demand Draft to be drawn in favour of IIT Kharagpur
payable on SBI (0202) at Kharagpur. INDICATE YOUR ALL INDIA RANK ( IN PLACE OF ROLL
NUMBER) IN THE DEPOSIT SLIP. You can also deposit the fees from any of the CBS branches of the SBI,
using the deposit slip. Alternative modes of fee payment such as by ATM and internet Banking also exist. For

Please bring the money receipt for the deposit of Rs.15,000/- (Rs.8,000/- for SC/ST) made on the day of
counselling (irrespective of the Institute where the deposit has been made),

5. Blood Group:
The student should bring a certificate from competent Physician/Hospital certifying his/her blood group. It
should be submitted to the Warden of the Hall of Residence immediately after registration.
6. Photographs:
Each student should bring six ( 2 for Identity Card, 2 for Students Profile, 1 for Academic Section and 1 for
JEE) copies of his/her stamp size (2 cm x 2.5 cm) photographs (colour). This will be required in the Institute
from time to time.

UNDERTAKING
I, Mr./Ms._______________________________________________have read
and understood the provision of Clause 11.5 of the Undergraduate Regulations
reproduced below :
To be able to register in the second year and continue his/her study in the Institute
at end of the 1st year a student must :
i)
ii)

complete satisfactorily at least 37 credits, AND


obtain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of not lower than 6.00 calculated
on the basis of some combination of the best grades obtained by
him/her to attain the minimum 37 credits.

A student failing to complete satisfactorily both the above conditions, even


after going through Supplementary Examination and or/Summer Quarter, is
required to discontinue his/her studies after the first year and leave the
Institute.
The GPA for a set of p subjects will be calculated as follows :

set and gi is the grade point, carried by the letter grade awarded to the
student in that subject i .
