Montage

Description: This project is a spiritually-themed

montage, created using Photoshop.

Program: PhotoShop
Date: 5/26/16
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 04
Derek Miller

Objectives: To create a montage of at least two images

in photoshop that displayed skills necessary when using
PhotoShop.

Process: First, I downloaded my 2 images from

unsplash.com. My background is an image of the moon rising

over a mountain. I contrasted this with the photo of a little boy
peering at the round through a magnifying glass. I used the
lassotool in Photoshop to embed the photo of the little boy onto
my background and then added a mask. I then used the
brush tool at a very low opacity to blend the two images
together. I added three text boxes for my quote. On
the final text box, I added a soft overlay effect and
a subtle drop shadow.

Logos

Description: These are my logos. They are meant to be

order to markey local milk and other farm products.

Process: I used Adobe Illustrator to make these logos. I

really like Illustrator! I was able to use the pen tool and the
rounded rectangle tool to create my milk can. I used the curve
pen tool to create the spot on the can as well as the stream of
milk-Im really quite rpoud of my cow spot and milk graphic.

Web Page

Description: This project is a web page that I created show

casing this logo for an imaginary local business.

Program: Adobe Illustrator, CSS, HTML and Text Wrangler

Date: 6/17/16
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 04
Derek Miller

Objectives: To showcase an orginal logo that I created in

order to practice web design and coding.

Process: To make this web page, I used my CSS and HTML

coding. Both documents were edited using text Wrangler.

Along with using basic coding of making lists, headings, and
body text, I also used coding to center my logo, give it a
padding-top, round the images corners and change colors and
fonts. My fonts are both embedded into my CSS document
from google fonts. My colors are hex colors imported
from photoshop.

Flier

Description: This is a flier created in InDesign. It was

my first project in InDesign and the process was as
painful as it was rewarding.

Program: Adobe InDesign

Date: 5/7/16
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 04
Derek Miller

Objectives: To learn the basics of design using InDesign

and rules such as alignment, the rule of thirds, repitition, and

assymetry.

Process: I began with four sketches in order to formulate a

plan for the message that I wanted to send to my audience. I then

organized all of my thoughts on InDesign. After a rough draft,
being critiqued by my instructor and a peer, a rough final draft,
and one disastrous print, I finished with the flier you see. The
flier is black and white in order to be professional yet still
have value and contrast. A lot went into alignment in
this flier because I wanted it to look clean and
have plenty of white space.

Objectives: To become comfortable with designing in

PhotoShop with your own images.

Process: After taking this picture, I uploaded it to Photoshop

and then I made the 4 basic edits to it. After that I was able to
use the color adjustments in photoshop to create a triadic color
