Manual

Introduction
Only install and start the Test Sieve shaker after having read the
following operating instructions.
The operating instructions give important information about the secure, appropriate
and economic operation of the Test Sieve shaker. They should be respected in
order to avoid any dangers as well as to maximize the reliability and durability of
the machine.
The safety instructions and regulations of prevention of accidents, as well as the
different protective recommendations of the technical associations and employers
liability insurance associations, have to be strictly observed when using the
machine.

All safety instructions within these operating instructions have to be

followed!
Always keep the operating instructions with the machine.

If used properly, the construction of the machine guarantees that it runs and can
be operated without any risk to persons.

The warranty does not apply to damages caused by improper use due
to a non-respect of the operating instructions.
All pictures and drawings in these operating instructions are general illustrations. They do not
reflect the construction in detail.
The technical data and dimensions are without obligation, claims cannot be derived.
We reserve technical changes of the machine described below, without changing the
operating instructions.
All rights on these operating instructions, the added drawings and other documents remain to
W.S. Tyler. So are the rights on disposition, copying and passing on, including trademark
registering.

Transport
The W.S. Tyler Test Sieve Shaker Ro-Tap Model E is delivered completely assembled,
except the guide rods.
If not otherwise agreed, it is packed according to the packing directives, HPE, as defined by
The National Association of Wooden Instruments, Pallets, Export Packaging and The
Society of German engineering shops.

Observe the current valid national and international directives for accident prevention. Damage
caused by improper transport will invalidate any guarantee or replacement.
Warning
Improper lifting may cause bodily harm or material damage. Only lift the machine with the
suitable equipment and by qualified persons!

1. Put the machine on a stable, vibration free table.

Do not use a rubber support!
2. Screw the guide rods (3) into the drilled holes of the vibration
plate (1) and drive in the counter nuts (2) by the key.
Minimum of three test sieves (height 50 mm) and one
sieve pan is necessary when using guide rods with
lengths of 620 mm

Ro-Tap Model E dry

1. Put on the test sieve set (1) and fill the sieving material in
the upper test sieve.
2. Put on the cover (2) and fix it simultaneously with the
two tension nuts (3).

Connect the main plug, pay attention to the power

supply!

Put on the sieve pan with outlet (1), the test sieve set (2) and fill
the sieving material in the upper test sieve.
Put on the cover (3) and fix it simultaneously with the two tension
nuts (4).
Slip the PVC- water hose over the wide spreading spray diffuser
and connect the discharge hose to the outlet of the sieve pan.
Fix the holding device and the separate control gear to the wall.

Connect the mains plug, pay attention to the power

supply!

The Model Ro-Tap E features an intermittent operation.

Every 10 seconds, the machine will pause for 3 seconds,
allowing the sample to settle.
Analysis Guide: If the smallest particle is 1 mm (USA #18)
or greater in size, use the COARSE analysis control
setting. For all other applications, use the FINE setting.
Each material application is different. Local analysis may
be required to determine which control setting will
produce the best results.

Starting the machine

Switch on the machine with the main switch (located at the rear of the unit). All indicators on the front
panel will read 0.
Time
The sieving time is shown in minutes (99 minutes maximum) and appears in the indication field of
set values / actual values. The sieving time will countdown to 0. Without setting the sieving time (set
point 00) the machine operates continuously.
The sieving time can be fed by one pair of entry keys for each function. With the left key the set point
descends, with the right key it ascends. When pressing one of the keys for a longer moment, the
numbers pass quickly.
Analysis Settings
There are two amplitude analysis settings. One for coarse and the second for fine material.
The Model Ro-Tap E features an intermittent operation. Every 10
seconds, the machine will pause for 3 seconds, allowing the sample
to settle.
Analysis Guide: If the smallest particle is 1 mm (USA #18) or greater
in size, use the COARSE analysis control setting. For all other
applications, use the FINE setting.
Each material application is different. Local analysis may be
required to determine which
control setting will produce the best results.

Start/Stop
To start the machine, press the Start button. As the unit runs, the remaining analysis time will be
shown in the display window. To stop the machine, press the start button again.

Elevation adjustment: As illustrated in Picture no. 2 the hand has to be placed between the
locking ring and the tensioning wheel. Then pull the locking ring upwards, allowing the tension
nut to be moved easily up and down the guide rod.
Tensioning: As illustrated in Picture no. 1 the tension nuts have to be set on the sieve cover.
The tension nuts can then be screwed down for a tighter fit.

Warranty
All functions of the machine are inspected and checked prior to its delivery.
The machine is warranted for 12 months.
*Test Sieves are excluded from warranty

W.S. Tyler is only liable for defects resulting from flaws or faults in material. The warranty
does not apply to damages caused by transport. Repairs resulting by improper handling or
wear due to operation are excluded from the warranty. The warranty is void, if interventions
such as variations or improper repairs are affected which are outside our control.

Maintenance and repair

In order to identify problems, the LED-display indicates for approximately 5 seconds, a
defect code, E nn will display in the window:

If this display appears, the machine has an electronic problem and W.S. Tyler should be
contacted immediately.

Please note that W.S. Tyler Test Sieve Shakers should only be repaired and serviced by
authorized dealers. Improper repairs may result in considerable dangers for the user.
